On my 2016 I added the performance package. It was only $3000 in 2015. On the 19 the black out package provides 255-40-19's, you can actually change out a flat. I invested $2000 to upgrade (Steeda) the suspension. It handles incredibly well- and the 3:55 rear (with 6 speed) seems more conducive to daily driving as opposed to the 3:73. Plus the PP now runs $4999-$6500 depending on package. If the temps go below 45 degrees get ready to spend another $1000 for winter sneakers. My advice pass on the PP unless you track it. BTW get the active exhaust.

I got a 2019 GT PP2 one year ago this week. It has the 401A package with active exhaust, digital dash, and magnaride. After putting stripes on it there is nothing else I really feel I need to do to it. It gets tracked a couple times a year and goes on spirited mountain road rides and I still have plenty of car to use so no need to upgrade. So if I had a regret its that I dont get to mod it any more than the few little things I've done like Steeda clutch spring and braided clutch line. Oh, and an H pipe.
Yeah man that's the ticket PP2 is a rocking package ....... powerful . Did X pipe, Roush intake with soft tune, woke up the car. Finally gave into the return spring swap. Factory spring rate was just goofy.

Bought a quick jack to service the car, very handy tool.

I've owned mine for a little under 2 months and have put a couple thousand miles. I wanted a fun car that I can both daily and carve canyons with. A lot of cars are good at one or the other. The PP2 so far is really good at both *pending fixing the diff overheating issue but that is something all Mustang GTs would have to deal with. No regrets despite that. It's a great friggin' car all things considered. My advice would be to figure out what you want and stick to that. To me getting the right color combo, packages, options that I want is paramount. Don't settle for anything less than exactly what you want and you will be the happiest.

Are there any other benefits of having active exhaust other than being able to change the sound? Does it only come on certain packages?
The active exhaust is a standalone option (not part of package).
It's well worth it. Great sound stock, and if you ever want more a simple X pipe or H pipe is all you will ever need.

I'd have gotten silver. Deep impact blue is a challenge to keep looking nice. Even if you don't drive the car the dust sticks out and gives it a purple tint. Silver is about one of the easiest colors to maintain, but can still really pop when you polish it up.

Have you given any thought to you might have an indication issue. Since your overheat has gone off at different temps and it didn't after you first wrapped your exhaust it seems possible. Since I wrapped mine and changed fluid mine runs a constant 50 degrees cooler than it did before. Just a thought.

I did this and ran a fairly aggressive mountain run. Heat was not a problem. Some track time would be the best test, and of course the ## of laps will be the bench mark there.

BTW 50ft of heat wrap min.

I can't really complain, because I was fortunate to find an insane deal on a slightly used 2018 Roush RS2. I love the exclusivity of it among tons of Mustangs on the roads, so I wouldn't trade it for a GT with more bells and whistles. But if I could wave a magic wand, I would get magnaride suspension, the 401 group with the soft touch center column, active cruise control and active exhaust.

My best move would have been to keep the GT350. That was an awesome car. Can't wait to buy another. But really you can't go wrong; they are all great. And I'm glad I'm trying a few other things. Life is short.

I think if I knew my wife was going to be so reluctant to drive the car (twice, in two years) I might have bought a manual. Other than that, nothing.

I got exactly what I wanted save for one thing. My car is a 301a GT because I don’t like leather interiors, “analog” gauges because I don’t like the digital dash, PP1 without magneride, with a manual. The only option I wish it had was active exhaust, but with all the aftermarket exhausts available that’s easily solved

It's about your neighbors. You can tell the car what time to be quiet, and that's a real benefit if you have neighbors close by.

And when you're on a long drive, being able to tell the car to STFU is also a real benefit.
Exactly what I see as bonus. Love the sound of my Bullitt, but my neighbors may have not, so 8pm-8am it was set in quiet. Now that I live in the country, I keep it that way as the noise carries. During the day or during a 5pm rush hour traffic, hell yeah I'll open it up a bit.
On a long road trip, I usually keep it open for a merge lane onto the interstate (unless in the 8p-8a range), then put it to quiet, put the cruise on and cruise. :)

Well, like most things, when you decide to purchase becomes a snap-shot in time. One could always wait and wait and see what comes along, but acknowledging this point, I'd say so far I've been very happy with my 2017 GT with PP1. I added stiffer GT 350R lowering springs, camber plates, larger brake deflector plates, and most importantly, ForgeStar 19" x 11" wheels with 305-30-19 tires in a square set up.

I do track the car a couple times a year, with on track sessions lasting less than 30 minutes each, so I haven't had any cooling issues with the rear diff, trans or engine. If I do decide to do longer sessions however, I've already decided on a rear diff cooler for sure, and may possibly consider a cooler for MT82. For road time, which is where it spends most of it's time, the modes so far have been superb!

However, if I was going to purchase today, I'd pull the trigger on a Mach 1. It has all coolers and other goodies the GT 350's have with a 480 HP Coyote. But all-in-all, I happy enough with the changes I made, that I'll probably keep what I have.

First off I just want to say thanks for having this great forum, I don't know anything about S550's but want to learn as much as I can prior to making a purchase. I've owned a foxbody for about the last 20 years and absolutely love them but these S550's are really starting to grow on me. I had been thinking of doing a coyote swap on my foxbody but once you start adding up all the cost it makes me second guess myself. So as of now my plans are to stick with what I have in the car and look at getting a S550 sometime in the near future.

So if you guys could do it all over again knowing what you know now would you have purchased the same thing or go for something different as far as a used or new one, lower or higher trim package, auto or manual, etc? I'm the type who looks for the best bang for the buck. I try to determine what are the must haves and what can I add later for a cheaper price. I like to mod it myself for the most part with just simple bolt on's. What are the must haves that you guys recommend or wish that you would have got when purchasing the car and what do you wish you would have passed on to later install yourself? My biggest debate is new or used, base model or one with more options and of course manual or auto. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.
T56 magnum swap ASAP

I'd buy the exact same car again, it's pretty fantastic. It improved on several things from my '16, much better handling __and__ comfort (by way of the 2nd Gen PP + Magneride), the AE system I couldn't do without, the A10 is stellar, since I got every option I didn't have to do any "Should I have gotten ...?".

I don't know what my next car will be, but my second Mustang is awesome.
