  1. Put a deposit on a new car- you guys going to laugh.

Congrats on the purchase. I'm sure you'll like it. They are fun cars in my opinion.
  2. Guys, how important is the “Shelby” name to the enjoyment of your car?

The GT350 is still only as good as the manufacturer intended. I modified my GT350 so that it wouldn't overheat on track...
  3. OIL LIFE...

So go ahead and ignore what the Ford engineers say to do with respect to changing the oil. Of course you know much better than they do. I don't think it's devolving when I try to encourage members to follow Ford's recommendations for oil change intervals. Forums are actually meant for...
  4. OIL LIFE...

I don't think it takes magic for something to happen to an engine and the oil inside it when it is stored and not run. Most people understand when an engine sits for many years it can end up rusted internally. Solids that are suspended in the oil settle out and plug small openings. Lots of...
  5. OIL LIFE...

I think you are saying even a full synthetic should be changed at minimum when Ford's oil life monitor system recommends, and a possible extension of that would be that an inexpensive oil should be changed even more frequently than Ford would recommend. I agree with that. But I do also think...
  6. RIP Camaro

No, I don't think the S650 looks like a Camaro at all. I always assume that people who say that are Chevy people trying to give Ford people a hard time, because I don't understand any other motivation or reason for it. I'm 6'4" as well and the Camaro is tighter for me than the Mustang. Less...
  7. OIL LIFE...

I don't know why you guys are so cheap to extend oil change intervals. Ford's recommendations already have you running the oil longer than I think you should. I guess if you are only keeping the car a few years and you don't care if the engine lasts, then by all means extend the intervals. If...
  8. C8 ZR1

Yes there are a very limited number of people who can afford to spend that kind of money on a car and are also willing to use it hard, going through the consumables very rapidly and replacing very expensive tires and brakes over and over, wearing the car out rapidly. But it's still really cool...
  9. Which car do I choose ? M1 vs 13’ GT500

No, I didn't know that. I assumed that it was new with the GT350 and was the reason there were issues with rings in the early ones and problems with the Coyotes after Ford switched those. I don't remember hearing about a lot of issues with the GT500 engines. Possibly they were built better...
  10. Which car do I choose ? M1 vs 13’ GT500

Out of those two cars, I would pick the GT500, because it doesn't have the newer spy on the driver features, cheap PWTA cylinder bores, direct injection, I don't like the newer Mustang manual transmission gearing.. the list goes on. However, I prefer the ride and handling of the IRS post 2015...
  11. Does Ford Have a Mustang Surprise for the 60th Anniversary?

I understand most people focus on high horsepower for performance, so you are probably more aligned with what Ford would do and what would sell best. I don't really like forced induction. And turbos suck in my opinion. I absolutely despise really heavy vehicles and slow throttle response...
  12. Does Ford Have a Mustang Surprise for the 60th Anniversary?

If Ford brought out a Mustang similar to a GTD, but with a 5 liter NA engine (larger would be preferred, but I would be ok with a 5.0), a manual transaxle and normal steel/aluminum body panels and priced it with an acceptable profit margin, I think they would sell quite a few. Now, if the MSRP...
  13. Put a deposit on a new car- you guys going to laugh.

Yes, I agree. I owned a base model and the sound system isn't very good. One thing I recommend you do right away is have the dealer turn off the piped-in engine sound. You can disable it yourself, but why not have the dealer do it? My understanding is it's simple for them. Anyway, the...
  14. Put a deposit on a new car- you guys going to laugh.

The infotainment thing was rare. It only happened a couple times. Every once in a great while the infotainment wouldn't work at all or there would be no sound. I assume the software is a little flakey and doesn't always boot up correctly. Usually the next time I ran the car it would be fine...
  15. Put a deposit on a new car- you guys going to laugh.

Yes fuel economy is good. I averaged 28 mpg in the GR86 and I get about 17 in the Mustang GT on the same commute. I think you would probably be fine if you aren't going to track it. I've never owned a Toyota before and I was surprised at how the dealer reacted when I asked them to look at a...
  16. Put a deposit on a new car- you guys going to laugh.

I owned a 2022 GR86. I bought it 2 years ago. I ended up owning it for a year and a half as my most of the time daily (I don't currently own anything but summer tires for my 2017 GT). The GR86 is a lot of fun to drive and the interior touch surfaces are much nicer than those in a Mustang...
  17. New EPA regs coming phaseout gas engines

If he's re-elected this will change immediately. Yes exactly true.
  18. BMW 4 Series

I don't see many BMW cars around here any more. More of the older ones if anything. Actually very few cars of any kind including Mustangs.
  19. Guys, how important is the “Shelby” name to the enjoyment of your car?

You need a stopwatch to differentiate between a HP Mach and a GT350 on a road course. Of course the GT350 has about 3.8% more displacement and is rated at 10% more power with both being stock, so you might feel a performance difference.
  20. Guys, how important is the “Shelby” name to the enjoyment of your car?

The GT and non R GT350 are somewhat close (in performance only) if you do tune with intake, suspension, cooling, aero and wheels/tires on a GT. Less than $35K total with the car if you do the work yourself (based on my 2017 I bought pre-COVID). You can probably get within about 35 hp with a...
