Hello all,

been reading up a bit on catch cans for my 18’ GT350, and i keep getting a concerning mix of opinions. i see people swearing by them and then also hearing about blowing up engines because a seal broke.

Thoughts and experiences??

I installed the Ford Performance one on the passenger side. Looks and fits like OEM. It is a must if you do any sort of track driving (or high RPM driving for that matter). Plenty of cars come with air/oil separators from the factory including the GT500. Not really sure how a broken seal on a catch can could blow up an engine. If you neglect to empty it or a valve/line clogs then maybe you might end up blowing a rear main seal. This happens from time to time on TT V8 MB products.

Alright thanks for the input y'all. i’m looking at the JTL 3.0, might try it for a little and if an upgrade is needed i’ll get it done.

I ordered both sides just after getting my 350. I use the Ford Performance ones as well. I have never had anything in the driver side, but passenger is a must. I track only 4-6 times per year. I would only install the one if I had it to do over.

I have J&L on both sides. Passenger side is about 'must have' IMHO. Who'd want that oil vapor going back into the engine?

Never heard of a 'con' regarding using an oil separator. Sounds like BS.

Pros: the purpose of the hardware
Cons: I've heard folks say vacuum leaks cause boost lag?

My two cents, I had the JTL, and hated that the catch can was basically suspended by the plastic piece coming out of the valve cover. To me it looked like there was potential to crack those pieces. I went with a remote mounted one instead from AAD. But really any catch can that is physically mounted somewhere on the car would be better than then JTL.

Only con is dropping one of the screws into the engine bay when emptying the can 🤣
I've done that, screamed and then painfully took an hour to get it out. Then I realized you can just take the clips off. I'm an idiot.
