Definitely think its the sun, been a Florida car all its life and I'm the second owner and this was just an inherited problem....I'm just surprised there wasn't a weather-strip installed from the factory or maybe it was removed afterward, but yeah this can happen! Hence why I wanna cover this up...

Nasty urethane rot out from sun exposure I assume. Would rather cover up then replace glass

Thanks Dave, beating myself up for not doing this when I just had the door panel off a couple weeks ago to swap new speakers, but yes with the "intermittentness" of it all I believe this is the first thing to try. I'll go weeks without issue then if I open and close that door it'll come back...
