I tried installing the Redlines.....they moved around despite my best efforts. I'll stick with the prop rod too
Yeah I have the Redlines and they work great, but even with messing with them multiple times the brackets still over time twist a little. Overall though not the end of the world and they work awesome. I cant imagine using a prop rod at this point.

This bracket movement that is discussed regarding the Redlines,
would loctite be a cure or am I not understanding the problem?
Are the brackets themselves bending/flexing?

I had a set of struts saved on a list for under my Xmas tree. After reading this thread I think I'll just stick to the hood prop.
Might want to look at the Roush ones. They have 2 points of contact on both ends and are extremely stable. Maybe a few more dollars to purchase but well worth it for the quality. I really like mine, I researched exhaustively and found they have excellent reviews.

Hard to explain withouth showing you. But the mount that goes onto the fender slips into a hole and then uses a expaning piece while you tighten it down into the hole. It works fine but over time it slowly twists a little in the hole. Ive had mine on for like 3 years now with no issues, just isnt ideal.

I had not ran into the Rousch ones until this thread. I had only heard of the FP & Redlines ones. The comments that are stirring me away from it are the ones talking about messing up the inner fenders.

I’ll try to snap a pic of mine later if I remember. It is metal on metal but I have not had any issues yet.

That would be awesome. Mine is all covered and put to bed for the winter :). I have at least one before I removed my engine cover. Shows the mounts on the drivers side at least.

I went with Ford Performance and had my windshield wiper hose relocated to avoid the pinch.

I agree that the Roush appears to be the best option. Both mine and my friend's Redline kits rotate. He's content...I'm not.

Regardless, I'm done with the prop kits. That being said, I still have the trimmed battery cover from my hood prop adventure I'd sell if someone wants it. I got a new one.

Looked in the search feature, but want to ask which struts offer the best reputation
as far as ease of installation and satisfaction?
Thanks!
I used the Ford Performance hood struts on my car, they've been great no issues.

I have the ford performance ones and am not impressed by them. The bottom mount twists no matter how much you tighten it.
Hmm. Interesting unless Ford changed something between the years. I have the Ford Performance kit and it works perfectly and never had an issue with them. I do notice though, that if you lower the hood just about 1/3 or 1/4 way down from full up position, it will drop closed so they don't seem to be all that strong. I imagine if the struts lose just a little bit of pressure, it won't stay up which is why I still have the hood prop in it's stored location.

My Steeda struts were starting to sag and finally wouldn't hold the hood up anymore. I got 5 years out of them so I guess that I got my moneys worth. Steeda doesn't sell replacement struts from what I could tell and didn't want to spring for a whole new kit so I did some measuring and an Amazon search and found these for around $20.
BOXI 4128 Universal Lift Supports Struts Shocks Extended Length: 13.00 Inches, Compressed Length: 8.40 Inches, Force 100 Lbs, 10mm Ball Socket Struts 4128

I think the FPP are listed at 90 lbs of lift and these are a little stronger. Pop the clips out to remove the old ones and just pop in the new ones in. 5 minute job. The old ones were definitely worn out as I could easily compress them. So far so good.
