GT350 Engine Refresh - Part 2

The FP valves made in Germany (M-6507-M52) are hollow and were the original OEM valves for the Voodoo. If you have a 2016up to whenever they changed to the Mexico supplier you have the FP valves already.

The FP350S kit ($1900) uses solid valves, pac springs and Ti retainers.

Interesting, looks like I am misinformed. I was told the Germany-made valves are an upgrade.

I've reached out to Ford Performance for clarification on all this including which valves are in the M-6505-FP350S kit.

Like to raise my hand here, 2016 gt350.... to X year. Did I just read the valve and the stem are two separate pieces on a high performance engine that revs up to 8250... if so, where's the recall on the valves. hehe.

Yes I think that may be a possibility. Because of the need to use dissimilar metals.


I note how the 'cheap-sh*t' Kia gets sodium filled valves but the "rare and exclusive engine in the Shelby" doesn't. Why are we paying $63+ grand again?

Just to follow-up here: @bauern is correct that they the M-6507-M52 valves are also hollow like the ones made in Mexico. I was told these are also the production valves in the GT350 5.2 motor. The Ford Parts replacement valves (like you'd order at the parts counter) are made in Mexico. The Germany-built valves are supposedly a bit nicer, so if you're building your own engine or doing a replacement, it's recommend to get the M-6507-M52 ones, not Ford Parts replacements.

As far as the M-6505-FP350S kit, these are indeed all solid. Ford Performance Parts does not have an individual part number, but recommended I just reach out to them if I needed individual replacements. The exhaust is sodium filled as is the coyote ex. valve.

Hi Folks,

not wanting to hijack this thread in any way, just wanting to say that my 2018 has finally arrived (not without a perfectly fine fender being crushed during transport somewhere) and the engine totally locked up. I was hoping for "only" scored cylinders...

Now to open the thing up and go from there..that's actually why I subscribed to this thread and forum!

Auction car I take it? If it's locked up, I'll guess spun bearing unless a rod has gone through the block. Keep us updated!

11/10/2020 update.

Tim has all the parts but the pistons. Putting the new Ferrea valves in and going to test the heads again to ensure they seal correctly this time. If any issues, we'll have to replace the guides and re-work the heads a bit.

Also forgot to mention - looks like in addition to oil leaking past the valves due to bad tolerances on the valves + seals, the springs were not the right ones. Current thinking is that they had prematurely worn out due to excessive shims (leading to the contact with the pistons).

I think I remember from one of your vids that you had Pac springs?

When MPR did my heads I gave them MMR race springs/titanium retainers and they set them all and I purchased Ferrea valves through MPR.
