Too bad things are nutty... I built an entire Boss302 engine years back from 100% Ford and Ford Racing parts. The block was like $900... I remember the forged crank was... $242! The OEm rods/pistons (assembled) was under $800. Each head was $1000 assembled. The cams, followers and all those parts kinda nickle and dimed me but overall, fairly priced, IMO.

Yeah,

from what I could see if going new OEM, it's block 1k5, head 2k2 each, crank 1k, pistons 1k, rods 1k etc..

Looking at all possible options right now!

FWIW, the GR3Z-6010-F (Gen2) block is about $1500 + ship at Tasca or ANWB, while the Gen2 is no longer available at Ford Perfomance.

No , it’s the latest voodoo block .
same casting as the GT500 block but as described before different location of oil squirters . GT 500 is also machined to clear larger predator rods .

Especially compared to the KR3Z-6010-A -that’s the GT 500 block - which is still $2300 considering the minor differences. Still not a bad price considering Ford performance lists the same block aka Gen 3 5.2 at $3600.

Why do you think the price is dropping ? No more GT 350 ? Fire sale ? 😊
May be even lower with Black Friday discounts ?
I assume they will need to have some voodoo’s stock piled for warranty work .

its tempting at that low price to just to grab one to keep while they are available as I suspect they will be gone soon .

Probably a combination of all that. I am of the expectation that it too will be discontinued, they only need long or short block for warranty work. If you order one it might take a while to get as I doubt they are machining these daily.

If possible, I'd buy the predator block. That's the one Tim doesn't need to correct. Should have the tighter tolerances

I have worked in the casting industry for the past 25 + years supplying various auto companies. There could be a few reason for the price drop.

example: project consists of 100,000 casting per year. 6 year program. $50 per casting.

1. new project. OEM & casting house are expecting the process to be inefficient because its new. Year 1. Get full price and work the bugs out. Year 2 more efficient 2% price reduction. Year 3. More efficient 5% price reduction. Etc

2. Casting house needed capital to purchase equipment. OEM agrees to purchase The equipment by paying a higher price per casting over the course of 6 years. Equipment is paid off and cost per casting is reduced.

3. tooling cost. Molds & machining fixtures. Same as #2 above.

Found it now under $1500 plus 25% off shipping
I will see what Black Friday brings but might be a good idea to grab one if only to stash if they are going to be discontinued soon .
