Oh that just sucks. Sorry man!Hopefully they will cover a car payment or two, my first payment is due in three weeks.
Objection! Speculation!I wouldn't be terribly surprised if they put out a TSB with a tune that brings the limiter down from 8000rpm to something more sane like 5000rpm when the oil isn't up to temperature. I think this is, what, at least the second if not third report on this forum of a likely OPG failure from not being warmed up.
I would be interested to see how much time this one takes since no cars have been built for the last 8 weeks, a new 5.2 engine should be waiting and readily available for replacement. The rest is up to the dealer and mechanic.Sorry OP, be prepared to be without your GT350 for around 2 months. I know from personal experience and others with similar wait times that have had engine replacements. Also, when you get your car back make sure you inspect it closely for additional damage due to the replacement.
I'm nervous about who will be doing install, I would prefer ford send out a specialized tech skilled in this area as opposed to Joe tech six pack.
Hey Dan,Who said the Voodoo OP didn't have billet gears !
I believe I have read that the big holdup is Ford. The cases where motors have been blown required a special tech to fly in and verify/diagnose each voodoo failure. Then the wait always revolved around finding or building a new powerplant.I would be interested to see how much time this one takes since no cars have been built for the last 8 weeks, a new 5.2 engine should be waiting and readily available for replacement. Should being the operative word. I hope for the OP it is quicker because of some of these reasons. But then your right, every dealer is different and who knows what there schedule and competency level is like.I would be interested to see how much time this one takes since no cars have been built for the last 8 weeks, a new 5.2 engine should be waiting and readily available for replacement. Then in some cases (mine) they never send a tech and just play phone tag between the dealer and Ford before they authorize the swap. This sounds like a pretty straightforward OPG failure so they should green light the swap pretty quick.I believe I have read that the big holdup is Ford. Maybe by now, they have streamlined the process.
Either way, I wish the OP a speedy fix.
