Winter Storage First Timer - Any Tips?

A few years ago, Race Ramps sold traditional rubber wheel chocks. I was able to buy a set on sale as they were ramping up (pun intended) to sell their now foam-based chocks.

Looks like U-Line, Harbor Freight, Summit and others sell the traditional rubber types. General chocks, for storage and maintenance.

Was thinking the flat stoppers by race ramps would be best of both worlds?

Thought about getting these, but the winters here lately have been fairly mild and I have been able to get mine out even in the dead of winter.... As long as it is dry and no recent chemicals on the roads and above 40 degrees, I go out on the weekends Fortunately we don't get lots of really bad stuff here. I just put mine in gear, brake off. No pressure on the transmission for me, my car sits perfectly still and level even if I leave in neutral with no brake... Just put in gear because, who knows what might happen LOL...

Battery Tender and I drive mine 2-4 times a month.

It don't snow everyday and if it does, I wait a couple days for it to all dry up and get off the road. I stay on the main roads

Do you guys have any ideas about mice? I have 10 glue traps around the garage, 4 poison traps. I’ve caught two so far in the last month in the same exact spot in a glue trap. Rest of summer nothing. Guess they’re doing their job, but the nightmares of people’s cars being damaged scares me. There’s no apparent way they’re getting in, maybe slipping under the garage door somehow? The rest of my garage is essentially lined with concrete around the lower part of the walls. I know they live under my front porch.

I store mine in a warehouse I have no access too from Dec 1st - May 1st, all I do is unplug the battery and put moth balls on each tire to scare off the critters. Have been doing this since 2017 with a few different vehicles and no issues whatsoever.

I have glue traps in every corner of my garage and have never caught one. BUT, I have a gang of feral neighborhood cats that roam around my yard all day, my neighbor feeds them so they hang around. I am OK with that, I don't "dislike" cats but not a cat person. Oh, and I have found 2 snake skins in my garage in the 5 years I have lived here too So there is that My garage is cinder block to knee high, then sheet rock from there.

I for sure prefer the glue traps, then just finishing them off myself

Hey guys, I will be storing my Mach 1 this winter in Illinois. Previously, I daily drove my GT year round as I had no daily driver or garage, so this is my first time doing this. Super happy to be in this position, as this thing has 0 rust on it, and I never want it to see salt.

Any tips on how to do this to make things go smoothly? My garage is attached, but not climate controlled.

Ive stored cars for many decades. It doesn't have to be elaborate.

Change the oil. Pump up the tires to 40psi. Don't start the car over the winter. Use a battery tender or charge the battery every 2 weeks. Clean the car inside and out. Leave the window open a Crack. I use dryer sheets all over. Ive never had rodent problem, but I cant say for certain its from the dryer sheets. Use an indoor care cover.

This is exactly the way I’ve handled it every year and never had a problem.

I live in a condo, last year I just disconnected the ground terminal of the battery and after 4 months it started fine.

I've been thinking about getting a battery tender though, but since I don't have anywhere to connect near the car, I would have to remove the battery completely and leave it connected in my apartment.

Is it worth it? Or just disconnecting the ground again should be enough to last 4 months?

If it matters, I won't have access to the car/battery for the entire winter as I will be travelling.

Cold id not a battery's friend. Pull it and bring it inside. You probably wont have to charge it if it says at room temp over winter
