Single top mount turbo - Supporting mods

Thats going to be loud, I had a short side exit on my turbo hayabusa.

I can’t imagine it being much louder than my current setup (LTHs, X-pipe and Steeda axle back exhaust). the turbo cars that I’ve seen/heard in person always sound quieter to me.

The turbo technically does muffle.

Yes that’s what I’ve read and it makes sense based on what my ears say as well.

I’m looking forward to jumping into this project. I need to send the hot side piping off to Jet-Hot Coatings to be coated and help keep things as cool as possible In the engine bay.

Without boost, does act like a big muffler but in boost, im not so sure. Wot is going to be gnarly, but if youre wot who cares

Usually turbos muffle better at wot, but almost not at all at idle and part throttle. It has to do with the exhaust gas reaching sonic velocity in the turbine and wastegate.

I would fit everything first before getting it coated. If you have to modify anything you want to do it before coating. Not everything fits the first time...

That’s solid advice. Normally, I would do just that, but I am trying to take advantage of a 15% discount that expires at the close of business on Nov. 11th. Parts must be in Jet-Hot’s possession by then or the discount goes away.

Back when I was researching jet hot, I could never really find any REAL data to suggest it was worth several times the cost of having it cerakoted. I'm convinced that it's probably better, but to what extent and is it several times better is the question (when you factor in the purchase cost AND the shipping costs now).

I had a set of JetHot coated Hooker long tubes on my '01 camaro. The JetHot coating dropped the underhood temps drastically! Never did measure it, but, really noticeable!

Back when I was researching jet hot, I could never really find any REAL data to suggest it was worth several times the cost of having it cerakoted. I'm convinced that it's probably better, but to what extent and is it several times better is the question (when you factor in the purchase cost AND the shipping costs now).

It’s definitely not cheap, but I’ll give it a shot with their Extreme 2000*F coating and see how it holds up.

I had their Extreme 1300*F done on a motorcycle header back in 2008, but switched exhausts before I was able to put it through its paces to see how it would hold up.

I'm not arguing that it doesn't work or doesn't hold up or even live up to it's claims. What I'm saying is that you can get your items coated locally with cerakote and I remain curious as to how much BETTER the jethot really is compared to the more economical cerakote route. There are probably limits to how much/thick the material can be applied (which would contribute to the thermal insulating effect). The next question is whether having it coated INSIDE as well as outside makes an appreciable difference.

My cerakote definitely drops the local temps as well. Was just curious then how much better the Jet Hot would be comparatively given that it not only costs more, you have to spend shipping to and from (which is a MUCH larger expense today than it was say even 5 years ago).
