I've had a total of three top mount turbo kits on my mustangs.

Two from hellion, another from HPP racing.

The boost works system is by far a superior setup in design, quality, and performance. Less BS piping, none of the heat issues from the turbo sitting in the engine bay, and the turbo's flat out hit harder.

Materials:
1. BoostWorks/HPP racing are equal
2. LPF
3. Hellion
4. On3

Design:
1. BoostWorks
2. LPF
3. On3
4. Hellion
5. HPP Racing

Quality welds:
1. Boostworks / HPP Racing
2. Hellion
3. LPF
4. On3

For the 15 mustangs from everything I have seen so far, the Boostworks kit is the highest quality on the market. I haven't seen the Armageddon top mount in person, but I hear they are a very nice quality as far as materials/welds etc.

Yes I'm friends with Travis, but he will tell you I'm one of his biggest critics and I'm not afraid to tell him how I think. I truly believe his low/mid mount TT setup is the best on the market. I have no doubt you will start seeing his setup set some records. If I didn't have a bad sleeve job in my 15 mustang from a previous build, I'm sure I would be at the very top of the fastest s550's in a daily driven street car.

Sent emails to both Hellion and Boostworks
Received replies from hellion, still no word from boostworks.

Do you guys know if the systems are ready to go? I've seen some past history of cars taking 6+months and I'm looking for a 1 week turnaround on parts itself. I know things are not always perfect building a car.

Hey,

Called this morning, and emailed you back with detailed pricing and info. I'll try to call again after lunch. :)

Early on in development, we did have some delays due to changes made on the fly, and some teething issues on the production side of things. But, that was a while ago. We have kits on the shelf (as shown in the pics I posted on the last page) minus turbochargers, which we order as needed. We sell and ship around 10-15 kits per month, and install as well. 1 week turn-around on your build is not a problem as long as we plan in advance.

At any rate, I'll try calling again after lunch.

Thanks!

Travis

I'm surprised no one has mentioned tires once in this thread... I'm no where close to 700 whp and I can tell you right now factory tires can't do squat. Make sure to budget for some good rubber and wheels to mount them on.

Bought the car yesterday, it came with a great pair of wheels already.

Have 20" wheels, looking to use either Pilot Sport Cups 2, Pilot Super Sports 4 or Toyo r888r.

Those arent going to be the best tire options for maximum dry grip on a boosted setup. You’re going to want a drag radial out back not a track/autocross tire. The Michelin ps4s are great wet/dry street tiress, but you wont be able to put big boy power to the ground with them.

Also surprised nobody has mentioned the complete list of other parts you’ll 100% need to go along with the turbo setup...fuel system, converter, opg/tg, injectors, suspension, etc. which pretty much is the cost of another turbo kit.

Thank you! I spoke with both people regarding the supporting mods and both have been very helpful.
I wanted to make sure I understood the supporting mods before going into this because I know those will costs more than the turbo kit itself.

I'm assuming at this point that a full build 800whp will be around $20-25k including labor. At this point, is it better to build the engine to handle more HP or would that throw in another 15-20k to hit 1k rwhp?

No prob brotha! Glad to hear both companies are giving you the full to do list before pulling the trigger. Mrp can set you up with a stout built bottom end for about $10k which is all you will really need motor wise. Bw uses mrp motors in their builds as well as plenty of other shops/people with great results. Going to want to build the trans at some point also, but that can be done at any time...Lunds trans tune will keep the stock clutches alive at 800+whp.
