There was a very public build that started from a completely stripped car with an LS that was suggested that it would be min weight as well. Didn't get there. If someone wants a CAMC car at min weight, get a 6th gen Camaro. They are about 150 lbs. lighter to start.
Got a link to that build? Id like to read through it.

I certainly could be overzealous on my estimates beyond the hard numbers I know. But I do have pretty high confidence that my car can get to 3500lbs with a few fancy things left on the table. Everything all in isnt cheap of course, but there is a lot of potential.

Some additional thoughts of reductions,
  • All sound deadening - I dont know what the mustang has but Id have to assume its more than the tin-can Evo which had a bit over 30lbs of it.
  • AC system - My weight loss keeps the AC. Im not getting rid of it, but it is another 25-30lbs
  • Carbon Rotors - Prices are coming down and theres a chinese company making 355x34 and 380x34mm rotors for under 1000/ea. Those are going to be popping up more and more, and Even over Giro rotors will save another 10lbs/corner. (dont shoot the messenger 🍻 )
  • Ditch all emissions stuff - I would guess at least 25lbs worth of stuff, plus makes working on things significantly easier.
  • Stereo - If going all out, this is another bit in speakers. But I dont know if its possible to ditch the sync system.
  • Ti Hardware - This is pretty expensive at ~$150/lb but I have several friends that have significant amount of hardware on their heavy cars.
If any of ya'll know Jay Bullington (JXB Performance), when he started AutoX it was in his S4. Those start at 4000lbs and his is down around 3300. I dont remember exactly how much, but it was a huge amount of weight loss. Things like completely striping the wiring harness out of the car of all wires no longer in use were done. Obviously thats extreme, but just kinda giving the idea of what others have done.

I was going to say exactly this.

For those interested, go to Vorshlags site and search for Trigger.

Terry is a polarizing figure, but I absolutely love how much info he puts out there for us to learn from.

Getting ready for this week's local event I jacked up the car to rotate the tires and to also install the MMR block savers on each side. Pulled the driver's side wheel off and roll under the car only to glance up and realize the drive's side swaybar endlink nut has backed off and is 100% MIA.

Apparently I ran all or at least a portion of the Pro-Solo event without a front swaybar which probably explains why it felt like the front of the car was rolling much more than I remembered it doing in the past.......

Oh dang, its always worthwhile doing a nut/bolt check on all suspension bits before a big event.

100% agree and let this be a lesson to everyone else.

I did a quick look, but this was the nut that attaches to the backside of the swaybar. I guess I somehow overlooked it. I should have done an actual "shake test" or an actual quick torque check on each nut to be 100% certain. Lesson learned.

Its likely going a bit overboard but you could always use some bolt marking paint after torquing to both register the nut has been torqued and that it hasnt moved during inspection.

I dont do this cause I take the suspension apart so frequently with component testing. But I may start with some of the less frequently touched things like subframe bolts.

I posted bunch of pages earlier that I had strut to knuckle nuts go loose / missing. Bolts there sit pretty tight so they didn't even start to come out but still.

I paint mark them now since easy check. For sway bar link nuts I always use blue loctite, they always get loose if they don't have a fresh nylon insert or some other means of locking.

I’m pleased to report I’ve registered for the first prosolo since probably 2019. Lobster Nats in Brunswick Maine. I’m curious if anyone travels the long distances to put some heat in CAM class. So far just 4 of us. One car is currently with a broken transmission and one car is something that tripods from 1965.

Now we wait.

Is 1965 one Nova guys ? They're pretty good and car is neat.
I consider going there every year since I've never been in Maine but it's farther than Lincoln for me....

The nova guys indeed. I feel like Maine only makes sense if you extend into a two week vacation or something. I spent two weeks on the quiet side of Acadia National Park last year. It was great.

Turns out hooking up your front swaybar helps.

1st place was national champ last year, 2nd place was 2nd at the recent pro solo so happy to be so close to both of them.

Course was an absolute screamer and had me using every rpm available to me, and the braking point is at the yellow cone up ahead.

Growing pains with the SC and tune setup. These two spins were 1st run and 5th run which was after a 30+ minute medical delay (someone had a heat injury). Other runs were able to manage the shift, but these two runs the rear tires went from under 30 to over 60mph in about 0.5s on the logs.

So cold rear tires exacerbated things but the combo of my likely defective 10speed and tuned shift pressure/torque request cause the aggressive loss of traction.

Also, I was under 50% throttle the whole time.

I Improved things by reverting a bunch of the trans maps back to Mach1 maps. Specifically upshift torque reduction and shift pressures. To totally fix things I think I need to get the updated parts done for 24+ cars.

How often are you running courses where you're able to use all of the power? Just curious as we have a local who's on a manual whippled 5.0 and although he's not the most diehard competitor he's rarely if ever in full power and has admitted to short shifting to 3rd sometimes just to control the wheel spin he gets. Even on a super fast course like the one I ran this weekend my time spent at full WOT is a fraction of the total time and even at voodoo + e85 power levels i'm still trying to keep the rear end under me as I almost inevitably have a little steering wheel into the car anywhere on course.
