What are your thoughts for it ? Do the dampers have capability to handle those spring rates ?
I think the base Mag dampers are probably good to about 350 /in spring rates, but I don't know any that have tried much in the 300-400 range, because ~300 is as high as you can get on stock-type springs.

Another problem this guy has is the Steeda springs put a bunch of unnecessary rake in the car, so it's tail-up before we even touch the brakes.

I wouldnt consider this "a bunch of unnecessary rake". Sure it's not ass down, but it's not like there's an extra inch of ride height in the rear.

I do agree though that if you want to go 400lb springs it would be worthwhile to move to the GT350R/GT500 dampers and even look at the DSC controller. But that's $3,000 for just the dampers and controllers.

I picked up AJ's kit myself, with 350 lb springs. It's sitting on the workbench now. AJ said the factory shocks felt great on his car with 350 lb springs. He is on the factory suspension tuner.

I will report back if I get time to install it this month. But I am looking forward to more front spring.

What are you planning on doing in the rear spring rate wise ? It feels like softer springs / stiffer bar seems to work on these cars.

I was on softer springs and stiffer bar with the Ford Racing suspension kit. I could power out of almost any corner, but the car just wanted to understeer everywhere even with the rear bar on full stiff. You could try going to a bigger bar, but it all depends on driving style I think.

I would agree with you on what these cars like. Ford seems to agree to based on the GT500 and Mach 1 spring rates.

For the rear, I will decide once I get a few events with the new front springs under my belt. AJ should have his kit out for the rear here this month. My biggest issue was with weight transfer exiting corners. With the DSC (And a ton of help from our resident DSC expert), I have gotten the weight to transfer a lot better exiting corners under acceleration, which was always a sore spot for me. I may end up with a garage full of springs adjusting the rear.

To be honest, I feel like even the 500 ft/lbs front springs I have on the car now are possibly a bit too soft for concrete sites. Its a new spring rage change, so I'm going to give it some time. 350 was "pretty good" but 500 is "almost enough".

Was that your take-away after Beeville this weekend? When talked Friday, I thought you said you went up to 500 for the event, but I also had several beers down and zero food, and may have mis-remembered.:cwl:

IIRC Fletcher was around 650. I have an open offer from him to codrive his car an event, but really want to be somewhere that has more run off room than HPA here in town.

One thing I know, 250 is not enough outside local events.

Steeda has similar thing that Hartman is doing for the rear - haven't looked closely enough to figure out which one is better if either - also it should be a bit of weight reduction (both front and rear).

nah I came down from 650 to 500. 650 was quite stiff at local events, so I wanted to experiment and see if front grip was higher with 500. It changes the timing of transitions somewhat so I'm going to give it a little more time before changing again. Front grip did feel great at possible expense of transitions.

Can you give it front little low-speed compression damping for support on entry? In your situation (as opposed to most who are coming from ~200#), I bet that a lower front spring rate DOES add some front grip. If you can get the transitionals tighter with damping, then you might be able to both have/eat your cake.

I only have rebound adjustments on these coilovers... so I can toy with that, or swaybars.

It’s interesting that left-right transitions are discussed. For me, the biggest pain of soft springs is the time spent to transfer weight backwards again after braking. Luckily with yokos, nothing really matters if you keep buying tires.
