This guy attached a fan directly to his CAI tube. He says it leaned the engine out, which sounds to me like the car is ready for additional fuel via the tune, to help it make more power.

Potentially but I worry about it blocking air above idle. Could maybe offset it out of the grille opening where it still blows air up at the air intake but isn’t in front of the actual opening.
Wouldn’t the fan actually be pulling more air in (like sitting a box fan in a window in a house to increase flow)?

Not while moving. At some point the air speed in front of the fan will outpace the air speed output from the fan and the fan will become a blockage.

Yup, kinda the same way a compound boost setup (turbo into pd blower) becomes a hinderance after a certain point and you're better off having a direct shot of compressed air into the engine rather than a supercharger.

I haven’t really done any real testing with my car’s IATs, but I do have this PMAS race filter that I run on the car off and on. Take a look at this thread from a while back. Not sure if this would be beneficial at all to what you‘re trying to do, but it seems that with a less restricted filter, the IATs would drop quicker. I could be completely wrong, but you’ve at least got me thinking of how to drop temps much quicker in exchange for more better performance.

I still need my windshield sprayer. I live in big bug country. look up the lake st Clair mayfly hatch. This is a picture someone posted a few years ago on Facebook from a few miles from my work.

I do actually have a spare sprayer though that I took out of my old f150…

I'm gonna go for round two for my PMAS, learned a lot of the last few years, think I have a handle on it now. And yes, I'm not a fan of the PMAS fender well setup. However I think the PMAS in general is the best aftermarket air induction on the planet.

What works? Thinking about wrapping the intake tube in heatshield wrap or going old school with a water mist setup hooked to a switch under the gas pedal. Had this setup on a foxbody and it worked well and was super simple to setup.

in a heatwave here, temps about 90*. IATs are about 100*. Not awful but the car is noticeably sluggish in the midrange compared to when it’s cooler out.

It’s a PP1 car with the big radiator, on E85, ford performance grille with more airflow to the airbox inlet. Cylinder head temps are fine, 190* or so.
E85 is taking care of this for you in the cylinders. 10 degrees IAT one way or the other won't make any noticeable difference

I'd log the tune, even with 100F IAT's the car should make decent power still on E85. Maybe the timing is turned up too much and it's getting pulled out? Like don't get me wrong, it's definitely gonna make less power than at say 65F ambients, but it shouldn't be crazy obvious to the butt dyno.

I took a dremel with a router bit and opened up my grill in front of the intake. IAT's never more than 2 degrees of ambient now. I also added a k&n filter.

Your IAT is 2 degrees above ambient at idle?

Can someone go out and shoot a short video sitting still in the heat of the day to show how rapidly the IATs climb and then drop once moving again? A shot of the gauges on the dash would be great.
