Having been through many generations of mustangs, it’s funny to hear that the s550 rides poorly. My car now rides and handles better than any mustang previously. The Steeda springs are a plus but it was good before too.

I would love to have magneride but solely for performance. I don’t think it’s a necessity.
Agree 1000%... I always say, if you think the S550 is a rough rider lmaooooo Jump into a FoxBody! hahahahah End of story!!! That will change your mind, Lickety split!!!!!!!!!!!!! =) Although, i miss my Fox.......

Definitely think its worth it.

If you're buying your car for purely racing purposes, probably not, but most Mustangs aren't used in that way.

Their ability to adapt to road surfaces and absorb shocks without upsetting the car's attitude is unmatched by the non-MR passive shocks. Without them, the Mustang tends to have too much vertical motion and inconsistent wheel control.

There's a reason GM, Ford, Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini etc use them.

Another 300A owner here as I also wanted to build it my way. Went with Bilstein B6 dampers paired with Steeda Ultralite Linear 200/800 lowering springs. Great combo. Very settled and tight. Eliminated float, squat, and dive. May swap the swaybars next to really dial it in.
I should have opened my comments by stating that I've neither driven nor ridden in a magnetorheological suspension-equipped car of any type, to include an MR S550. I'm sure it's a significant upgrade over conventional pneumatic dampers, simply due to its ability to continuously vary damping rate. If it were available as a stand-alone option I would have been tempted. The fact that it requires the PP made it an easy decision for me as most of the parts in that package didn't match my wants.

and this is PRECISELY where Ford screwed up. The Camaro comes with MR as a mostly standalone option. The Mustang it's a $6000 er $7500 which is insulting. The C8 I think it's independent of the Z51 package, which is also sensible.

The value of the MR is however INTIMATELY tied into it's programming. Ford sucks compared to GM on this vital front. But Mopar is horrendously worse.

I don't know why Ford sales/marketing insists on making the dumbest choices possible year after year after year. You'd think they'd want to crush the competition by offering value.

Think I once read that Steeda offers proprietary MR programming. Is the M1 base vs HP vs GT/PP programming all different?

I've not heard that anyone other than Ford Performance has MR programming. And it's part of their suspension kit for MR.

ETA; I see Steeda does. And it's not cheap. And it requires changing springs too.

The Ford Performance kit is a much better value. It includes springs, sway-bars and the software.

You can buy DSC Sport contoller (which is what Steeda sells - with its own calibration) and do whatever you only want in terms of tuning Magride suspension - however to make it better, it requires some knowledge of what you're doing.

I love the MR in my Bullitt. The normal mode is so relaxing and bumpy/rough roads are not harsh at all. Put in sport mode and it's a different car. Put it in track mode and I get a bigger smile. Drag mode the rear squads. Having different suspension behavior at a flip of switch, is a win win for me.

"yes" but to what degree is unknown. The biggest difference between GT/EB with MR vs Mach1/HP is the front damper. The M1/GT500/GT350R (2020+) use a different part with different internals.

Whatever MR your car has, you need to lock down the IRS and do the other stop-the-hop mods to free up the suspension articulation to maximize it's ability.

Yes, there are lots of options available to improve on the rear suspension, but watch your wallet folks, because it can get out of control pretty quickly. I would guess that many of the parts listed below would provide a much different experience with MR.

My car isn’t a daily driver, but I did have MR in place, along with everything listed below, plus adj. motor mounts, when I drove 1300+ miles in it. I only engaged in normal driving and never pushed the car aggressively in corners with MR, as my goal was always to set the car up for straight line work.

- Subframe braces
- Diff. bushings (with through bolt kit)
- Vertical links
- Adj. camber arms
- Adj. Toe links
- RLCA spherical bearings
- Subframe bushing supports
- Differential bracket
- Subframe alignment kit

I have not ridden in one without magneride, however, it seems like every person who has got to experience both says it is a must have especially if you're deciding between spending extra money on that or active exhaust. Like others have said I can see it not being something you want if you're going to make it a dedicated track/drag car as you'd be replacing things that would make it useless anyway.

I love it in my Mach and the vehicle is so comfortable even in sport/track mode. Have never had any complaints about the way the vehicle feels from any passenger I've had in the car either so it must be good. Everyone always says how smooth the ride feels and I pretty exclusively run it in sport+ after the trans is warmed up.

Mach 1 is my first S550 so I can't Compare directly. But compared to my S197 this car rides excellent even though I have the HP. No Complains daily driving it, I would say for a daily driver its perfect.
