Honestly I’d be happy with it being professionally touched up, that’ll make me happy to avoid further damage and protect the metal and be blended enough I can’t see it without REALLY looking, and if I do keep this car as long as I plan to, an eventual full respray isn’t out of the realm of possibilities years from now.

Hopefully they just make it right. I’d also be tempted to ask what in the hell they were doing to ding up that many different spots on the car and the strut bar. Dr. Colorchip works well too, only thing that sucks is that if you’re OCD like me you’ll always see it and know it’s there, even if others can’t see it.
Yeah I’m not sure how this even all happens, I wish I had just done it myself but I’m lazy these days.

Not to add insult to injury, but the brace is supposed to have a triangulation piece that it sits on top of that connects to the firewall. It's a whole 3 piece setup. I'm not sure just bracing the shock towers does anything at all (other than look cool).

This. The steel cowl brace does most of the work, the cooler looking strut on top of the shocks is more for appearance than for torsional rigidity.
And if we are talking rigidity, I will be more concerned with the car having the lower k-member installed that not a strut bar.
In fact mine have not, only steel cowl brace and k-brace, because well... it's useless in practically all circumstances (except a side crash, in which it will ruin both suspensions!).

Anyway, if you care so much for your car, get tools and competence. Installing this piece of metal does not require a shop at all. And with the money saved you get basic tools and basic competence.

I see your from Michigan I’m from Illinois so my concern really is salt getting to it
Then touch it up.

I get that you're upset, but what do you expect? They'll repaint the car? Ask them to get the Ford touch up kit for you, and you'll take care of it yourself.

I think the cowl brace goes underneath (and the OP has that fitted) ? :like:

It does have that piece on it.

I just expect the car to be put back in the state that I brought it into them, not damaged.

I’ve already decided to go back tomorrow but wanted some opinions. Got a strut brace put on by a local shop and upon examining closer I was left with these. I hate to do it but I feel like I have to, this car has 6,000 miles on it.

I don't even understand how they could have scratched the radiator support when installing a strut brace....

Maybe take this opportunity to make a small project for yourself, and re-paint the strut brace in a custom color, and fix the scratches on the body with a touch up pen. literally, a 12 year old with a ratchet and a deep 15mm socket could install a strut brace in 15 minutes.

No it was a local performance orientated body shop and they told me they could do it. Honestly it sucks because they did a great job with my Shelby wing install and changing my deck lid panel. Just feel like I care too much about the car and plan to keep it too long of a time to not say anything.
Asking them to repaint that could be a can of worms.

IMO, once you start putting parts on a car, its going to get dinged. If I want a show car quality, I do it myself and protect everything. I don't expect the exterior paint to get dinged, but engine bay, 100%.

I would touch this up myself if it was me and mention it to them next time to be more careful. My $.02.

MAGS, the ignore feature on this forum is one of life's little joys, ask me how (and because of who) I know.

To the OP it would bother me to the point that I would go back and try and get them to better the situation with the understanding that it is never going to be perfect if they, or ultimately you do it. I would expect them to make an honest attempt to make it much better though.

As for the guy who traded the truck because of the door ding. I had a buddy many years ago that went to arbitration with Chevrolet after 2 repaints by the "top guy" Chevy corporate employed at the time on a brand new C5 Corvette he leased, because of bubble on the underside lip of the driver side rear fender well. He claimed diminished value on the lease, etc. It was, in my estimation, extremely unnecessary, but to him, it drove him absolutely crazy. 🤷‍♂️

Go to a local hobby store, craft store or even Amazon and get a small inexpensive air brush kit. I would do those touch ups myself, unless you now trust that same shop “painting” those dinged areas….

I get you’re upset, but you did leave the shop premises without inspecting or raising the questions on the spot. It is now your word against theirs, since they could turn around and say that you left their properly and how do they know you didn’t accidentally cause those blems (although you did NOT)….

I will make this suggestion to everyone:
ANYTIME you have to drop off your ride at ANY shop for ANY type of work - take your phone out and take all sorts of exterior/interior pics in their parking lot, capturing their signage in the images showing the vehicle had NO damages prior to the shop touching it. This way when something like the above arises, you can pull your phone out and prove otherwise… and get fair compensation for damages. Always inspect the work and car before you leave that shop….
