As the title suggests, the engine decided to off itself after a hard and well lived 170,000 miles. Not mad at all, if anything I’m 100% satisfied with how long it lived. Been boosted since 100k miles. 100% stock factory long block, still had the stock OPGs/CS. Shot a wristpin out of the block. Time for a built motor! Just debating if I should go with a 12:1 aluminator or a sleeved block. I think a sleeved block would be overkill considering it will never see more than 14-15psi (100mm pulley).

Mods:
ESS G3 Head Unit/IC
100mm/110mm/115mm pulley
FIC1000 injectors
Fore L1E

Nice job. That was twice as much smoke as when I blew a hole in piston #3. Wish I got mine on camera! 🤣

I think you're a little crazy for boosting an engine with already 100k on it! Glad you got to 70k after that.

with these modern engines, as long as you maintain them, the don't wear out for the most part.

LOL at first I was scoffing at the fact that the engine went out at a low 170k miles… that is barely broken in! 🤣

…but then I read that it was boosted and was like, oh shit that lasted an extra 100k longer than expected. 🤣

Come on. A little jb weld and you'll be back in action.... lol At least you have two projects now. A new built motor and a coffee table with the old block.

It WAS my daily driver for like 4 years and drove around 120 miles a day sooooo basically? lol Took it road tripping a couple times as well.

I always get mad when people keep their mustangs garage kept. Shelby's? Understandable, but a 5.0 is meant to be driven and enjoyed, and thats what I did!

I'm sure it will! I believe this engine woud've went 200k if i had it on the 10-11psi pulley instead of 15psi.

It was doing just fine at 12:1. I'd like to replicate the setup just with stronger internals, ran absolutely perfect, until it didn't lol

How much boost were you running and what was the max RPM?
15psi (100mm) pulley. Max rpm it would ever see was at about 7800-8000, but usually shifted it at 7000-7500 (MT82).

Great minds think alike!
