I'm a tad under 500 miles... Mine has the nibble feeling from 1st to 2nd especially when cold. It seems to take 15-20 minutes of driving for the trans to come up to temp. It gets a little better then.

I honestly stopped taking 1st gear to redline. The 1-2 shift will upset the car at that high rpm. 2-3 I don't worry about it as much, and the car is typically more calm than 1-2.

And I've not redline shifted 3-4 yet lol

Transmission takes a while to break in, and it likes to be fully warmed before high load shifts. The warm up period takes longer than you probably think, I can only imagine this is worse in cold climates.

I'm referencing another thread regarding the Tremec, I would break it in more, but I would consider an alternative fluid fill if no improvement occurs after a few thousand miles General feel does seem to improve with miles according to most user reports.

post #10 has viscosities of alternatives compare to the factory fill.

After a couple track days and some spirited driving (both after factory break in period) and some 5,000 miles, I changed to Red Line D4 fluid. It improved my shifting feel immediately.

For the OP I'd give it more time before considering a change. With issues like this, regarding feel and subjective judgements, you will have to consider taking it to the dealer to at least get it documented in system for warranty claims in the future god forbid.

Yes, I have the same "grind" into 2nd at high revs. The Tremec seems to act better when you are beating it to shit vs taking your time. I chalked it up to the transmission and continue to do it anyway.

This isn't subjective lol. My transmission and the mach 1 at the track attack does have a grind when I do a 1-2 shift at redline. I've done 3 track events and even went on a road trip in my mach 1, it still grinds like that the day I went over the break-in period.

As for subjective feel, my tranny feels great and really only gets clunky/nibble in the cold.

Please try doing a quick and hard shift from 1-2 right at redline when you get a chance, I don't think fluid or break in will help prevent a grind if you do it quick enough.

This is unfortunate to hear, sounds like its time to take it in to Ford and see what they say about it.

I have never had a grind, only some firmness, especially when cold, and at times a gear nibble into 5th. 2nd has always require more effort than the other gears, but the D4 has smoothed that a bit. The transmission in general improved with time. It was funny I remember hitting like ~350 miles and there was a sudden noticeable improvement all around, like someone hit a light switch on it.

The track Attack car I used required a bit less effort than my car, but I never experienced any grinds on either car.

I have also no lift shifted from 1 to 2, and it was fine on both cars.

CPR and old thread, but I’ve noticed 1st to 2nd clutch can be temperamental on release. I’ve gotten some unexpected bucks on release. Seems to be smoother now at 2200 miles.

I put an MGW in mine at less than 100 miles and I sometimes grind 1-2 if I don't let it warm up a bit. Not sure if that's something with the MGW or not but after a few miles and some shifts, it's buttery glass.
