I'm intrigued about the Boron comment also. I dug up Blackstone reports from other vehicles, and Ford Full Synthetic 5w30 appears to have around 134 units of Boron. Motorcraft Synthetic Blend is at about 107 units. Regular Amsoil 5w30 shows 150 units. Blackstone's universal average Boron content is about 50 units.

Since the regular Amsoil OE stuff is about on par with other full synthetics as far as cost goes (and meets the Ford oil spec), I'm most likely going to be running this oil.

Do you have the Boron numbers of Mobil 1 ect?

I spent hours looking over numerous threads on the coyote "tick" issue. I came away pretty convinced that Ford uses certain "friction modifiers" or additives for the factory fill. I also came across an MSDS for a Ford engine oil friction modifier, I think it was called "XL something".... I never spent the time to determine that Boron is the key ingredient, happy for "OutWest's" contribution here.

A friend of mine used Ceratec and it took the tick away, I heard it personally before and after, I rode many times in that car. It completely disappeared for him, this does not happen for everyone, so it is prudent to try and avoid the tick form the start. It is something I have thought about too for my oil change.

Actually it was from a poster in the UK who did an analysis of the engine oil that came from the factory vs the one at the dealership. He found the factory oil had a higher Boron content. That may be why Ceratec works because it contains Boron

lots of interesting info here thanks guys. i might do royal purple and a ford filter this spring when i get the car out. only 1500 miles but its on the original fill and will have been parked since end of october. perfect time to do it!

Petro-Canada Supreme Synthetic 5W-30 meets Ford's WSS-M2C961-A1 norm and has 262 ppm Boron according to FB page. I chose this one for refill. Not sure what Ford dealer will use, though.

That Boron stuff sounds like mumbo jumbo to me without some scientific evidence backing it up.

I dont know about the boron thing (if it helps or not) but I just took another look at the oil analysis from Blackstone Labs.

1st oil analysis with the factory oil 224ppm boron

2nd oil analysis with Ford Motorcraft oil 148ppm boron

Edited because I searched Pennzoil FS 5W30 boron count. According to the webiste is 263ppm

I have a Blackstone kit ready for my first oil change in late summer of next year, if my car arrives in the spring.

Oil analysis is a cheap investment at $30 a sample from Blackstone. The detailed report is nice for trending possible issues that could be happening inside the engine.

From the oils tested it look like RP and Pennzoil have the highest boron counts.

I have just had 1st oil change in my Mach 1 after 1500km milage. Procedure done in authorized service station in Poznan, Poland. From what I was told they used Castrol 0w30 as this is currently recommended for Mach 1 in Europe since Jan 2021 (despite oil plug having 5w30 badge). Before Jan 2021 it was recommended to use 5w20.
