Update.....Dealer got R/R wheel bearing instead of R/F. Car is up on the lift and apart. I asked for the faulty part, but they have to return it for warranty. Dealership was nice enough to put me in a new Bronco til the repair can be finished. I asked to tech to see the faulty bearing and he took me out into the service bay. I snapped a pic of the faulty bearing and I'm posting here because it seems they did not tighten the bearing at the factory which can be seen in the pic by the egg shaped mounting holes. The tech said it was loose and common.

Wheel bearing bolts left loose at factory is not a good sign of quality control. I would ask tech to ensure all other wheel bearing bolts are at proper torque prior to getting car back.

Sadly, there is just no pride in ones work ethics anymore. Being a retired auto tech of 50 years, I took pride in my work and treated every car as if it was my own.

I think there’s a lot of variables at play. A lot depends on location, size of the dealer, how many other dealers are in the area, etc. I can get an appointment next day for just about anything (except transmission work, the trans tech is only available so many days per week) at the dealer closest to me. But, it’s a large dealership that has a lot of techs and service bays. It also helps that there’s at least a half dozen or more Ford dealers within a 20 minute drive of me and even more if you widen that to 30-45 minutes. Not to mention there’s several Lincoln dealers around too.

But the Chicago area is quite large, so we’re fortunate to have a lot of options. Smaller areas of the country probably have much fewer options, so if OP’s dealer is only one of just a couple in the area, it will likely be harder to get into.

Could also be that the dealer is one of the better ones around so everyone goes there regardless of other options in the area. That happens sometimes too.

It very well could be that dealer doesn’t employ enough techs too. We just don’t know all the details and OP might not either.
My drivetrain issues have recurred. Vibration/clunking noises, last time took 3 days "axle halfshaft not properly seated. No damage was present" Mileage was 6000. Now 8000 miles. Went to dealer on Oct. 20, and was told to return on Nov. 7. Lincoln dealer is 60 miles away. We take my wife's car there. So I test drove a C-8, might have to trade it in.

Yikes, that sucks for you. Hopefully they can get it resolved. These cars are pretty stout for the most part but the ones that have issues seem to be recurring

this is horseshit.
With all due respect, my experience concurs with the comment you’re responding to. But maybe there are areas of the country where it’s less obvious.

I don't understand it either, but this is not the place to discuss it in depth. I got my pee pee slapped before for getting into politics too much.

I just know that the workforce is not there like they were before covid. Even where I work. I live in the Cleveland area and it is one of the poorest big cities in the US and a 6 figure job is a godsend around here and no-one wants them. I'm scratching my head on this one.
Well, with Door dash, Amazon, online gigs, influencer deals, you tube etc. there’s more choices that include owning your time rather that being strapped to a desk until the bell rings.

everyone is getting the same bullshit excuses.

my question to the service guy was "okay, we all know that domestic quality isn't as great as the imports yet we buy because the implicit promise is 'we're gonna take care of you because we're closer' but with all this globalism bullshit it seems like that upside for domestic brands NO LONGER EXISTS.... so why should we go with a company of lesser quality to begin with when the implicit promise of better customer service doesn't exist anymore?"

sure, toyota has warranty issues as well but at least the panel gaps are usually pretty good and they know how to build an IRS that doesn't beat the shit out of the car.

Unfortunately there isn’t ANYTHING that great coming out of Detroit these days.

FACTS

I'm starting to wonder why don't I just sell the mustang and get something without a warranty but way cheaper or at least more cool. if i'm gonna chase down rattles and fix issues like a used car it might as well be an actual used car.

I have a 78 Datsun 620 pickup (bulletside) that would be a cool ride with a small block chevy with 4 speed and posi in it. I have 75% of the parts needed already from years past. Been considering fixing rusted body and bedliner the complete truck and bed. Old skool rat rod style for sure.
