Who has done the sound tube delete?
Is it hard or is it easy?
I am going to do this soon and am looking for tips and trick to do it.
I have seen most of the utube vids.
They seem to say unbolt is hard and just yank on it a few times is easy and it will come loose.
However some of these vid are not exactly accurate, so I'm asking you folks.
I have gathered all the parts i need for this project, but well lol I need a little "hep"
thanxs

I deleted my 22 GT when I had it. Pulling the tube out of the firewall is the way to go. Once I removed the "sound generator" I just gave the tube itself a healthy yank and it came loose from the firewall. And I plugged the hole with a rubber plug supplied by Steeda. Also a rubber cap for the intake itself. It took me about 10 min to do.

Same here. I tried unbolting at the firewall with no luck. I just tugged on it until it broke loose. I used the same Steeda kit to plug both ends.

I’ll second that…and at the same time I removed the surfboard engine cover too😎

Agree with all of the above. Just pull it off the firewall, it’s not worth preserving anyways. That bilt is kind of a pain to get to sometimes. Cap off the intake hole. Super easy change.

I did mine 8 years ago and I don't remember having any trouble doing it. I didn't buy any delete kit, as I remember I purchased some stool end rubber caps, at Walmart or Home Depot, that slide over where the hose connected; about $3 for 4. On the firewall I may have used black duct tape and I've never had a problem in the last 8 years. The chair tips were 1" and then I put a worm clamp around it to hold it in place. Save all the parts if you can, the next guy may like all the noise if you sell your car.

I took it apart at the air box and about half way down. Plugged both ends and left it attached to the fire wall.

When I first bought my 2020, I bought a cheap kit off eBay that included the firewall plug and cap for the intake tube. Unfortunately, my OCD wouldn’t allow me to just pull the thing off and leave that nut on there. I used a ratchet wrench (10 mm I think?) on the nut holding it to the firewall. Could only get maybe a 1/4 turn at a time with the room I had, and of course, the stud is 20 times longer then it needs to be. Took some time, and a couple of breaks, but I got it off. Other than the time it took to get the nut off, the rest is simple.

Well so far I have released it from the intake tube and capped it off no problem . I have also removed the plastic clip and lifted it a bit from the air box lid. I'm waiting for the engine to cool down al bit before i proceed further. Looks like I may have to remove the engine cover but that's ok. The kit I have is from LMR.

chair leg piece here on mine. easy peasy but the hole in the firewall was a bitch and a half to get to. I ended up removing the strut tower brace and a few other things to get to it.

and now that same hole is access for e85 sensor wire and soon to be boost and oil pressure cables :)

if you live in one of strict emission states you might want to keep it for comliance reasons. It is easier to block it than remove it (difficult) and then snstall it again (difficult).

Ways to block it:

a) remove all sectiins but the last one (piece of cake) and insert a foam piece into the pipe.

b) insert a piece of foam to block pipe entry into the cabin.
AFAIR you need to renove/ i stall gas pedal fir that (piece of cake).

years ago guys were doing this to silence the sound tube. I did this as well, (back in 2022),

and that way everything stays C.A.R.B. legal
