Literally took me 2 minutes to plug it from up top but if you’re already under the car it should be just as easy. I didn’t even bother to remove the bolt holding the sound tube to the firewall, just give it a good tug and it comes right off.
I agree it wasn't difficult. I also just pulled the tube out it with force. The plastic flange just fails at that bolt connection with a good hard tug. Sounds like right hand or left hand works for putting the plug in. It's pretty easy. I did tape a string to the plug in case it dropped it.

You can easily plug the hole from the inside. It’s just behind the gas pedal which is very easy to remove
I did this with some sound insulation to help.
that effing tube gave me a headache.
after getting rid of it the car sounds perfect.

I was able to plug mine with the strut bar and cowl brace. Tight fit for sure but very doable. I’m not a small person either. Facing towards the rear of the car, go in with the left hand. That was the easiest for me and I’m not left handed.

Yes, that was my process exactly. Face the rear of the car and snake my left arm down beside the dipstick, I reached it with no problem... Just had to make sure the car was COLD :)

Is there a reason for all the dislike for the sound tube?
I'm just trying to understand because the sound tube doesn't annoy me at all.

I've seen discussions about this for years and for some reason it is funny to me because the purpose of the sound tube is to make more noise in the cabin.. meanwhile a bunch of those that are removing the sound tube also want to have really loud exhausts.. trying to understand the irony here.

It’s ugly and honestly I don’t think it pumps that much sound in the cabin. That was my logic

sound tube leaks like a bitch from multiple places... dont use it once you mess with it. i recently reinstalled my factory intake/manifold/supercharger to pass inspection and i was not putting the sound tube back. i plugged it where your photo shows and every joint leaked air. i did a smoke test and that sound tube smoked more then a stoner on 420. i didnt plug my hole(wink) for a month no water leaks. then i smeared a thin coat of silicone on the plug and did it from the inside. fuck the sound tube. i had it on until it needed to be removed for the blower otherwise i wouldnt touch it. but yea tldr sound tube leaks like a screen door on a sub and the hole can be plugged from inside l.

i get it u got people that sweat who there gunna bring there car to for an oil change and u got people who do so much major stuff all the time they forget where they put there axle or engine while they work. basicly what im saying it dosent need to be perfect the more u work on the car the more forgiving you are to things that arent perfect ESPECIALLY when u arent paying for labor. i feel like people who dont work on there stuff expect everything to be perfect since there paying for work and you expect to get perfect job for you $$ a diy guy is just happy it works and everything else is secondary. dont sweat it and take your time ull think of a great way to take care of this that makes u feel proud of ur work.

It makes checking the oil a pain in the @$$... Especially with the strut tower brace. Its just in the way... Wasn't about sound at all for me, just convenience and freeing up wasted space. Fortunately my Mach 1 doesn't have one :) but I promptly removed from my GT when I had it.

I am installing the Power Pack 2 from Ford Performance. It's a requirement to remove it as the GT350 intake doesn't have the port for it

Thanks for all the tips. I am receiving the missing hardware today, and will attempt again over the weekend.
