Doesn't some of it stay behind with every oil change? I'm a bit worried about build up. Should my engine sh*t the bed before the warranty is up there's no way they'll not see that stuff. I used it once (didn't help me) and the oil color was very noticeable. Wish it would've worked for me.

This is why I put in much smaller doses, almost every oil change (~100-150ml), instead of 2 full cans (600ml). I find it helps the tick, and provides a slight enhancement to lubrication (engine quieter overall). After a 2-3 changes, I run a cycle (5,000mi) with no Ceratec, to cleanse and flush out some of the excess.

Right now, I'm 4,000mi into this cycle with no Ceratec. The new oil ticked as always right away. Now, the startup tick is still there, but has subsided noticeably as the oil ages. When fully warm, the engine doesn't tick with aged oil.

This reminds me of the Slick 50 that came out in early 80's I think and sold like crazy

I tried it in my 2018 GT, didn't help. But it was such a POS that Ford bought it back and had to put a new engine in it. I used it on my 2017 F150 5.0 and it did seem smoother. But it cause a short panic attack when I changed my oil cause it came out milky looking like it had water in it. And that was with only one bottle.

FYI: I added Ceratec (2 bottles) for the first time when my GT had 17,000 miles and my BBQ tick went away (not the 2k rattle though it was slightly quieter). Then I changed the oil at 23,300 miles but did not add Ceratec. My BBQ tick did not return.

Changed oil again at 29,200 miles and no BBQ tick. The latest oil change I did was yesterday at 36,000 and the results remain the same, no BBQ tick.

For all these oil changes, I stuck with the same brand and viscosity plus same oil filter. In this case, I have always used PUP 5W-30 along with Motorcraft FL500s filter.

I understand not everyone had stellar results with Ceratec but it certainly solved the BBQ tick for my GT and has not returned in almost 13,000 miles and 3 oil changes.

That's believable, I did my first oil change with Pennzoil Platinum and did not have a tick before, nor after. But I did something most shops won't do, which is pre fill the oil filter so there's zero chance of even temporary starvation.
I also prefill the filter at oil changes. My Dad was a lifelong mechanic and he taught me that way. The idea of an oil additive that doesn't let the surface starve for protection makes sense to me. Engine startup is one time that an engine rotates momentarily without oil pressure, however short of a time that may be. Thinking out loud here... if someone changes oil on a hot engine that still has much of the thermal expansion in place from running, tolerances at their smallest. Is there value in changing oil with the engine cold instead? I've done a ton of oil changes in my life and never really considered it.

That PTFE Slick 50 is ridiculous. I have an old pump bottle of it that was sold as a household lubricant. I can put it on something and forget about it for years.

Minor tick with the factory oil, 1st oil change switched to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum w/ motorcraft filters. Never came back, doesn't use any oil.

I went from 1 ceratec bottle (300ml) to half bottle - 150ml per 8 quart. So far sounds good, no tick, although subjectively engine was quieter overall with 300ml.

I'm going to stick with Castrol just because that's what euro market uses. Will see if I can go down on ceratec even more with oncoming oil changes.

Final goal is to use castrol magnatec and no ceratec.

Half can to 8 qts and severe ticking is gone. My ticking was almost constant at 1500 rpms. In the beginning it would only happen for about the first 1k miles of a new oil change then go away. Past two changes it never goes away and is actually worse.

Had it documented in 18'. Got 8 months until powertrain is gone so I'll whip on it until then.

put it in last week, engine does sound quieter overall.
