Do you need to use it at every oil change or is it a one time thing?

It should be safe to use at every oil change if you want to, however Ceratec recommend at every 30.000 miles right after oil change should be good enough.

I'm planning on driving my car as it is and in case the tick comes I will try this out

a friend of mine, he works as a service manager, and he recommended the liquimolly oil... he is using it on his cars and those engines barely make noise now... i just did an oil change to my mustang with mobil 1 full sync. but i'm very intrigued about this oil...

now, about the ceratec, i may add a bottle just to check it out

Hello all! As an owner of what may be the highest mileage 2019 GT pretty much anywhere right now (38,000 miles) I had completely resigned myself to the bbq tick. It ticked from new. It ticked hot, it ticked cold. It ticked.

Regarding the mileage:
I drive my car year round, thanks to Blizzaks, and put a lot highway miles down. My car burns about a quart every 5000 miles and has been (other than a mis balanced drive shaft) completely flawless.

On my last oil change I popped in a can of Ceratec, half expecting to kiss my $25 goodbye, or worse.

Thing is, that junk actually worked. The bbq tick is gone. I’m frankly shocked that a product actually did...something.

Here’s a very brief video of my experience.

The correct dosage is two cans

Curious as to what oil and weight you are using and if you’ve always used the same or have you experimented a bit prior to using the Ceratec?
I use 5-30 Royal Purple now but I’ve tried 0-40, 5-50 and of course the Motorcraft 5-20. Nothing about the oil viscosity seemed to change the nature of the tick.

You are a little late to the party lol. Folks have been doing this for quite some time especially on the Gen 3 motors.

pity we don't have a control group which is add a bottle to OLD engine oil. As written there are 2 variables at play. New oil AND the additive. It would be interesting to see if after the next 3 oil changes (no additive) when/if the tick comes back.

I semi-recently did my first (for me) oil change, I almost scored a bottle and tried it. I don't [think I] have the "BBQ tick", but figured it might dial back some of the engine noises, but just the oil change seems to have done that.

True. I did have the tick with the new Royal Purple before the additive, but I guess the effect with old oil would be interesting.

Owners have added Ceratec to their cars both when changing the oil and after the oil has been in the car for awhile. Oil doesn't appear to be a defining factor. The only factor of interest is does Ceratec lessen the noise of the tick. The overwhelming answer is yes. If you have the tick, try it. If you don't, it certainly cannot hurt.

Well, my previous post just disappeared... interesting.

There are posts regarding different tests people have conducted, but they are likely buried in the massive tick threads...

When I started using Ceratec, it was added to oil with about 40% life remaining according to the oil life monitor. Stopped the tick almost instantly.
I tried not adding Ceratec after the next oil change to see if the tick would return... changed the oil, went for a short drive, sat in the driveway revving and listening... nothing. I added a bottle anyway after that just for good measure.
More recently, had billet OPG and C/S installed, never added any Ceratec after changing the oil. Tick returned within a day, but its no different than it used to be. No louder, no quieter, no difference in the sound at all. Still haven't added any Ceratec, but will next oil change since it's just about due for one now.

Mine is DI tick. With the warm weather it goes away. I don't believe ceratec will work for DI tick. At least it hasn't on mine.

Good to know. I'm going thin with 0W-20 Castrol Edge Extended Performance so we'll see how it goes. I don't have the tick and though I bought used with the car at 5,500 miles, and I'm now at 6,800 he oil monitor is at 84% so it seems like the car has had a post break in change, still with no tick. Here's hoping...
