You know guys I've been thinking about this tick, and my 2019 has some tricks to it with 300 miles, but to me I've owned so many different cars that it doesnt bother me.

I'm sure people have looked at it logically, but from my point of view if tick was something majorly wrong internally - like let's say bearing issues, sleeve issues, or clearances are too loose you can add all the additives you want to your oil eventually it will break.

When I say break eventually I mean in fairly quick order. A engine is just a machine, and judging by how many of these cars make noises I would say it's normal. If you want to quiet it for peace of mind. . . Okay but if these were put together so poorly from the factory they wouldn't last a 1000 miles, and especially with how people drive Mustangs.

My "tick" is not any worse than my hemi ticks were - my Hellcat had a tick and my 392 had a way louder engine than my mustang. All though my Hellcat had issues with supercharger bearings, the bottom end never gave me a problem nor did my 392.
If Ford's line is that the tick is normal, I am not worried about using a product that makes the normal noise less noticeable.

1 or 2 bottles is my question. The directions say we should use 2 with our 10 quarts of oil. But nearly everyone recommends 1 bottle per oil change. What if you only change your oil once per season due to low mileage driving?

I use one bottle Ceratec due to many cars and low mileage driver per car. And 2017 motor with no tick.

I don't have the tick per se but I have had an intermittent "chuffing" sound on the passenger side at idle. So far, the ceratec has quieted things down a lot.

I had a slight tick ever since new. I added 2 bottles of Ceratec and it was quiet. On the first oil change I switched to 5W30 full synthetic and only 1 bottle of Ceratec and it's still very quiet.

I'm going to go with one and see. It is an additive, so too little is better than too much when it comes to augmenting your spec'd oil. IMHO of course. The goal for me is to stop the tick and smooth things out. If one does that, I'm good both financially and otherwise. I know ideally you do it in conjunction with a fresh oil change, but I've only got 1K on my full synthetic Castrol Edge Extended Performance fill, so not going to wait or change now. Have a bottle on order, when I give the car the swig, I'll let you all know. #notachemicalengineer

That's the way I'd do it

My 2017 developed the tick. I'm at 40,000km on the odometer and the tick was driving me nuts. The tick was only present until the oil was fully warm (which can take a good 10-15 minutes to get the temperature all the way up!) then it would stop. Light throttle at approx 1700rpms the engine would tick and rattle away. I didn't often get the tick at idle. I've been using Mobil 1 5w-20 since the first oil change.
I'm not a fan of additives and really contemplated adding it for a long time.
Today I pulled the trigger. I was blown away that the effect was immediately noticeable on the first drive. No more tick.
It's only been one drive, so we will see how this holds up over the course of the OCI and after the oil change.

I ran 2 bottles an oil change in my Gen 3 Coyote F-150 and it quietened it down quite a bit. I just got my 22, I will probably dose it when I change the oil the first time. It's good stuff.

Never noticed the tick before the first oil change I performed this spring. Got back from the first drive post oil change and the tick had arrived.
Completely annoyed and totally skeptical; the tick didn’t go away so I bit the bullet and bought some.
Poured in the entire bottle and within a minute the ticking was gone.
YMMV but add me to the list of successful users of Ceratec.

hi, I asked the same question below but just hedging my bets 😁 did you use 1 or 2 of the 300ml packs? It says 1 will treat up to 5Ltr so I guess we need 2 but just checking
