  1. Abnormal Camshaft Wear

Discovered the same situation on my 200k mile Honda when I was in there adjusting valves. It was only one lobe. It’s an old car so I decided against an expensive repair. I stoned the surface and sent it. Was curious to see how long it would last. Nearly 180k more miles since then and still going...
  2. I hate bad old drivers.

It worked with my Mom. She’s gone now but I never had to worry about the car thing. She mostly understood. Her leaving the house on foot is a whole other conversation. I think driver training / licensing should be more stringent, and the law needs to be more punitive with law breakers. Just in...
  3. I hate bad old drivers.

Years ago, my wife and I were sitting in a car in an aisle waiting for another car to move so we could park. An elder lady comes out of the store, gets in her car, starts it up and backs straight into our passenger door. Mind you we were sitting there in plain view the whole time. That kind of...
  4. Carbon Fiber Addicts Anonymous Thread

Something I saw last weekend. Thought you guys would appreciate this. Not a 6th gen but wow.
  5. Rodent wiring damage.

Honda had a problem with that years ago, and even issued a TSB about it.
  6. Charging system problem.

I just replaced a battery on mine. It started this sleep mode thing even though I was driving the car once a week. The actual reason I changed it was slow starts and the battery being 4 years old. The sleep mode could be a telltale. One thing I have experienced both times a battery starting...
  7. Manuel swap s550 2015

It was definitely easier in the old days before computer-controlled cars. If it fit, that was it. I once swapped a V8 into a 6 cyl car AND I had a POS donor car with all the parts. That was a piece of cake. I would not think of doing that now.
  8. Charging system problem.

A bad battery cable or connection can wreak havoc sometimes. Make sure you have tight, clean connections at the battery. It's such a simple thing but so critical.
  9. Manuel swap s550 2015

Does one have to change the ECU when going back and forth between auto and manual?
  10. Shifter bezel trim re-install

I have taken the trim ring/boot assy loose a few times and of course the trim ring separated from the boot. The little pins broke, even though I was trying to be easy with it. I found a nice little fix. I use Shoe Goo to reassemble the trim ring back to the boot. Just put some dots of the glue...
  11. Mach 1 Oil Change - Filter put on Dry Per Ford Recommendation

That is indeed odd, I have lubed the seal on filters for all the oil changes I’ve done to my cars in the last 40+ years. I always fill the filter with oil as much as practical too, but I’m sure that could be the subject of a whole separate thread lol. I spin it on until making contact then take...
  12. Tired of hearing about the Voodoo sound

Most of the compliments I’ve gotten over my Coyote’s sound have been from older folks, although not all. I take that as a win. My car isn’t that loud and I wouldn’t change it. I’ve tossed the idea around about a resonator delete but I don’t want the added rasp. I grew up listening to single cam...
  13. Dark Horse A10 vs 350R roll race.....

Dang, he got taken to Gapplebees. I’m surprised it wasn’t closer.
  14. Tired of hearing about the Voodoo sound

I’m kind of with the OP, I’ve never understood the excitement over the Voodoo sound. It’s ok I guess. I’ve heard one in person more than once. In no remote way is it as exciting as listening to a FPC Ferrari revving its engine.
  15. Failed Emissions Today

You could have been writing about my situation from a few years ago. Aftermarket tuner, no codes but monitors not resetting. Tune revisions didn’t fix it. Had to go back to stock to pass. After each and every tune change I would get a P0315 I had to clear out. It was a hassle. Even tried the...
  16. BREITLING, ROLEX, TUDOR, OMEGA, anybody into high end watches?

Thanks. You know, I actually considered doing that but I wonder if it would hold up with not being stitched all the way. But… it’s an option.
  17. BREITLING, ROLEX, TUDOR, OMEGA, anybody into high end watches?

I was given one of those Stauer watches in the Graves style. I really like the vintage look of it but the strap had been replaced with a metal band at some point and it’s too small. Anyone know of a place I can get the leather strap for it? One problem, the band is notched in the middle where it...
  18. BREITLING, ROLEX, TUDOR, OMEGA, anybody into high end watches?

I wear a Garmin Instinct every day to work. I’ve worn it when painting, mowing, working on the car, whatever. Doesn’t have a scratch on it, and likely not by virtue of me being careful. It’s just tough. I did have to change the strap, but I have a lot of hours with it.
  19. Electric for everyone - the impossible dream

Also, electric cars are harder on tires, which need to be replaced more often. Another factor from all that weight is wear and tear on roads. More maintenance will be required to keep them in good shape. Imagine if big rigs get outfitted with electric, how much heavier will those monsters be ...
  20. Mustang washed away in flood

The hottest Summer I’ve lived through here in Texas was in 1980, over 40 years ago. The worst ice storm I’ve ever seen was around the same time. The worst drought to date in Texas started in 1949. The worst hurricane to hit the Texas coast was in 1900. Extreme weather happens. This is only the...
