My gut says no, but with all the computers in these cars it just might.I also get a check charging system light when it’s cranking over, could a bad alternator be my problem?
Get a multimeter - do a test with the connector there and make sure there's nothing wrong with that connector or the actual wires going to it. Take the multimeter and spec out the sensor too; if the readings are above or below the actual spec for that sensor, then the sensor is garbage. Yes it could be a bad sensor even if new out of the box, one wouid not expect that, but it happens.
