Agreed, all the talk of "valet key" in this thread is very confusing. It is a glove box key.

Exactly, these cars have no "valet mode" to speak of. The key locks the glove box and you can also disable MyTouch with a passcode for some reason but that's it.

One thing you could do is make your spare FOB a "valet" FOB by using "My Key". You can put some pretty good restrictions on the car with My Key.

I suppose that's true actually. Good thinking!

I'm good with 2 blades and the extra "key". If you have MyTouch, I believe you can invoke "Valet Mode", but I haven't played with it, so I don't know what it actually does. Trip to the manual, I suppose. Besides, whose gonna let a valet drive their car?

MyTouch valet mode just locks the MyTouch system itself. I guess to protect whatever personal info you might have there, home addresses, contacts, etc.

My Mustang came with a blade key in each fob, along with the valet key ringed to the electronic key code tag.

It is NOT a valet key--This car does not have a valet key.

The "extra" key ain't extra. It is the key to the glove box.

Two fobs. Two blade keys, one inside each fob. One master blade key on ring attached to second fob. One broken fingernail.

Has everyone tried to get in their car with the blade key? I tried and couldn't get the cover off. Reread manual, watched you-tube video, tried again. Not wanting to force it and break my brand new car,I went to the dealer. Good plan, they broke my new car.
They ordered a new cover but it comes in unpainted and has to go to a body shop.
What a PIA.
