Guys,

I read many threads here complaining about locking out , car getting getting locked even key fob was inside etc.

SO i gave it a shot today, i left my fob in my car, closed the doors and touched the button to lock..

Surpise: it doesn't lock the car moreover alarm sounded 3 times telling key fob is inside....

Try this:

Leave the key fob in the car. Lock the door manually with the button on the door panel. It DOES lock. Close the door.

It will beep twice and unlock. :)

I just tried it before posting that... the car should not allow you to lock the key fob inside (unless the battery in the fob is dead).

When have I steered you wrong before?? :)

I really hate having a keyless ignition. I just like taking the key out, KNOWING that it's in my hand and in my pocket, and knowing that the engine is off. The EcoBoost engine is so quiet at idle that I can't always tell that the ignition is off since the stereo keeps playing. On a few occasions, this has led to me letting my foot off the clutch, thinking the ignition was off, when in fact it was still running, and the car lurched forward (luckily not hitting anything). If they had a keyless ignition delete option, I would gladly take it.

If you just leave it in your pocket you will know it's in your pocket.

This is my third keyless start and I love it - never having to take the key out of my pocket is awesome.

FOB never leaves your pocket.
Never use the door button to lock the car.

Is it really that hard?

This is my first and I can't imagine ever going back. Although, I have done the "forget to turn it off and release the clutch" bit a few times :):):)

I wonder how soon or if you wont have key fobs at all and you would just use your fingerprint to unlock and lock the car?

You can actually unlock, start, stop, and lock the car without ever taking the fob out of your pocket, so it should never get lost! The inside of the door handle will sense your hand to unlock, and touching the top of the handle after exit will lock it.

Didn't know that.
I have been pulling the fob from my pocket and locking it with that.
Thanks for a useful tidbit of knowledge.

I meant more that with a traditional key, if it's in my pocket, I know the engine is off. With this car, the key is always in my pocket, so it's not always apparent if the engine is on or off.

Maybe I'm paranoid but I still have to hit lock on my fob when I exit and see confirmation with the flashing lights or horn beep. Touching on top of the handle just doesn't give me any positive feedback the car is locked and alarm is on....tried to find a way to set up feedback in settings to no avail....
