I just opened both of my key FOBs to look inside and the silver metal blade key is only in one of the FOBs. I'm assuming there should be a blade key in each FOB. Doesn't make sense to have the blade key in only one FOB.

Can some of you open both your FOBs and verify if there is a metal blade key in each FOB. If I have one missing I wonder why?

Thanks

For mine, one came inside the key. On the other set the key is a separate small key on the same keyring.

So the metal blade key that stores inside the FOB only came in one of your FOBs?

On my 2nd FOB there was a valet key on a ring, but it's a regular sized key, not the small metal "blade key" that stores inside the FOB.

On mine, neither of the blade keys came in the fob -- they were both on a ring with the valet key.

I think it's a dealer prep thing.

So from what I'm hearing here, it seems that I'm missing one of my blade keys.

I have 2 FOBs.
1 FOB has a blade key inside, the other FOB does not - the spot where the blade key goes is empty.
1 FOB has a valet key on a ring with it, the other FOB does not.

^This. I got 2 FOBS
1 FOB with Blade Key inside
1 FOB with Valet Key on ring

That's it.

^^^ OK, thanks ... now it sounds like what I got is normal. Only one blade key.

I guess Ford thinks that since there is a valet key with one of the FOBs, that there is no reason to put the blade key inside that FOB.

So everyone ... you might want to make sure the blade key is in the FOB that you are using on a daily basis since apparently it's the only FOB with a blade key inside. If you need the blade key out on the road for some reason, it would suck if the blade key wasn't inside when you pop the FOB open.

^^^ That's what I would have expected. I'm missing one of the blade keys it seems.

But others have posted that they too only have one blade key.

Guess I need to go to my moms and see if the other has the blade, I believe they both did. Salesman wasn't concerned which one he opened to show me how.

My ram came with two blades in each FOB plus 3 normal keys.

It would be nice to get quite a few people checking both their FOBs to see if each FOB has a blade key inside.

Maybe Ford put a blade key in both, and maybe some only got a blade key in one FOB. Seems to be a mixed bag so far.

You should have gotten two blades one in each fob and a valet key. If you did not contact your dealer.
