i still havent tried removing that cover even after watching that video. he sure made it look easy though.

I agree,thats why when mine didn't just pop off I quit. I do think everyone should try this in a situation that is a non-panic one.

Not wanting to force it and break my brand new car,I went to the dealer. Good plan, they broke my new car.
They ordered a new cover but it comes in unpainted and has to go to a body shop.
What a PIA.

Sounds like someone may be due a nice floormat upgrade or trunk luggage liner ;)

Why would a dead battery be a "panic" situation?

I don't want to risk breaking the plastic cap so I'll wait until I have a dead battery to worry about it.

I like my OEM all weathers, mind you I don't drive the car in the winter and they definitely don't offer enough protection for that.

Might be better off carrying a spare button battery in the wallet for when the fob dies. Maybe I'm missing something, but getting inside a car that I can't start won't help me in most situations. I don't frequent rough areas of town, though.

I see you live in a densely populated area. I live in a rural area, very few places I go have cell signals.
So yeah,stranded in the middle of nowhere might be a bit panicky.In the dark, raining and cant get in car. That might get your bp up a bit too.

If you get inside,you can start the car with a dead fob by removing the liner from the cupholder and placing the fob in the rear hole.
The batty in the wallet is probably a good idea.
