Only OPG I ever seen breaking is aftermarket ones. The one and only stock one I've seen break was due to to a improper aftermarket balancer instal.

Here’s some threads that contain factual OPG info, take time to read them, because not all OPGs are the same and yes there have been reported failures with some aftermarket OPG.

If you’re going to attemp OPG/timing yourself, or get a shop to do it, here’s important notes so check the below threads before jumping in without knowledge:

Incorrect timing marks on crank sprockets:

Good tips. I had a small issue with the timing mark on my Boundary crank sprocket not being centered on the correct tooth. It was in between teeth but slightly closer to the correct tooth. I verified the correct tooth by placing the stock crank sprocket on top of the Boundary and lining up the keyways and then counting teeth and made a new mark directly on the correct tooth.

Gen 3 forged sprocket from another group.

My car is at the dealership right now because a sprocket tooth dropped out of my oil pan when I changed the oil. Bone stock car, never hit the limiter, 2020 with 10k miles on it.

From watching these threads. Stock gears are too hard, Aftermarket too soft. Someone should split the difference.

Another thing I would also recommend if doing any OPGs, is get a new oil pump housing from Ford. It was like $80. And make sure you lube the inside really good because the new Ford pump was bone dry.

Yep, i would not run a free set from Boundary.

We pulled a set of boundary gears from a 3k mile build that valvetrain issue. They were worse than the set i had. Here is a pic:

Out of curiosity, which OPGs do you run or recommend, if not stock?

I think the TG and key were the victims in this one, not the perpetrator.
