Fixed another problem today(:
I had issues with RPM being super unstable.

Before doing the swap i was searching through this forum how to get a RPM Signal/Clean Tach out.

Everybody seemed to use coil1 neg with and without the autometer adapter.
Since mine was not really stable i thought about switching to the crankshaft sensor and it fixed the issue!

So if anyone needs a RPM signal it's pin 70 on the top pcm plug.

Next step where i'm still lost is how to reconnect the OSS Sensor and the reverse switch.

What does the OSS even do except cruise control?

I can't give explicit advice since I learned just enough to say "fuck it" and do something else, but my understanding was that the ECU uses OSS for a bunch of things - including controlling the motor at low speeds. When investigated swapping in a dog box that wouldn't have a compatible speed sensor, I was told that I would have to use a control pack ECU for an auto since it doesn't require the OSS. Not sure if that's compatible with the rest of the Ford system, tho.

You'll probably have the most success figuring out a way to replicate it.

Awesome swap! sweet to see you got it running. good luck!

I think i either use the vss(oss) output from the tcu or an external sensor and try my luck with that. I know i can somewhat configure the voltage output from the tcu controller in the software but not sure yet.

Reverse Switch on the tremec is also giving me headaches. I connected all 3 sensors today to the tremec and measured the voltage. Oil Temp and VSS is around 0-5V but the reverse switch is either 0 or 0.04V.

So i thought it might be just a ground that closes when reverse is engaged but that wouldn't make any sense because if i disconnect the sensor i get an error in the dash even though it shouldn't matter if its just a ground switch. But voltage range is unusally low. Maybe i'm just stupid but i need to dive deeper into that tomorrow.

Underneath the Car its mostly done. Interior is still a wire mess but thats a issue for another day.

Shifting from 2 to 3 gear is still harsh but considering there was still no adaptation and the gearbox isn't really configured to my car all the other gears shift nicely so far.

I had 2 awful noises last test drive but we fixed them.

First noise was low oil in the gearbox itself because the fill procedure is quite something on the zf8.

Second noise was the starter was catching in gear by 0.5 mm on the top surface. Fixed it with a spacer.

Wires are now mostly done :)

Shifter integration is harder than i thought and i will probably ditch the BMW shifter for the can keyboard.

To integrate the Bmw shifter i would need to cut away either the center console plastic or the sheet metal but i wanna keep everything reversible.

Weather was nice today and found a rural road close by that wasn't salted or any gravel. Did adaptation and car shifts much nicer now(:

First video is slow, second was 70% throttle

Very cool. Question. Once you get it dialed in what do you expect for shifting quickness? Will it be as crisp as a dct on a 500 for example.

Awesome. Can this transmission take 8500 rpm shifts?

No not as fast as the DCT. Stock the zf8 is supposed to be at 200ms. The Gt500 dct has around 80ms. Not sure how much faster the ZF8 is without the OEM limits but it's still a planetary gearbox.

From what i have found the max is supposed to be between 8500 - 8600 rpm, but i capped mine at 8000 for now.
This project is interesting as I'm considering it for my f150. I'll keep checking back for more updates!

If it ends up not being too expensive I'd like to put a ZF8 in my 17 GT

It's intriguing to me as well for my '15, as I pondered ordering it with an auto but couldn't get the PP also at the time, so the PP with manual won out.

Not to mention I absolutely love the ZF8 in my Jeep, and having it in the Mustang would be pretty damn amazing.
