Auto or DCT for the GT350?

Does anyone think that Ford might offer the DCT in our cars after the GT500 comes out (maybe as a swan song)? I would miss the joy of rowing my own gears, but really wonder how a DCT would transform the Voodoo motor. No flamethrower please.

While I love the 6 speed, i'd have taken a Voodoo backed by a short ratio'ed 7 speed dct in a heartbeat if it were available. Sadly I don't think we'll ever see one. That being said it would be awesome if Tremec made them available in the aftermarket with the TCU for a reasonable price.

A DCT was originally considered as an option but was deemed too heavy, complex, and cost prohibitive.

A DCT would be awesome properly setup. I drove a student's DCT BMW M3 at a HPDE and was blown away with how good it performed.

Not gonna happen. Why would you think that when every Ford exec has stated that it won't happen? The party line is have a GT350 on the lot along side of the 500 to satisfy both the 3rd pedal crowd as well as the DCT crowd.

A detuned version of the engine in the Ford GT say to 570hp/475tq thereabouts with the 7 speed DCT would have been mega! Probably too expensive and heavy as nastang87xx outlined but damn that's the ultimate what if!

It would spin the tires, that's for sure. And sound terrible doing it.

Probably but this was just my humble opinion. I know the engine in the Ford GT/Raptor is not the best sounding mill. Random thoughts sir.

Would sound like a gravely GTR. They also have different firing orders which is why the GTR when opened up CAN sound okay all things considered for a V6.
