Damn, looks like my stalker turned up again but the mods got to him before I could see what he posted on here ... lol

Although I did catch his other post where he was complementing my choice of colour ... :inlove: :cwl:

You didn't miss much, he didn't even wish you a happy new year. How terribly rude!
how shockingly rude! Some folks have no manners, i blame the use of Teams and Zoom for the lack of politeness displayed by some folks. It is however a nice colour :sunglasses:

Only a few car related bits for Christmas this year :

In between the Christmas festivities, I got around to fitting the CTEK sense. I stripped off my existing charging pigtail and modified it to add in the sense unit :

Solder and heat shrink rather than crimps :

I fitted the sense unit behind the battery :

All the wiring and fuses are within the battery box, but enough out of the way to allow battery change :

I also took the opportunity to remove, reshape and refit the rubber seal around the back of the box (it’s aluminium spine was distorted from the factory) and to trim the rubber around the neg cable exit (it didn’t sit right following the fitment of the strut brace).

Lid back on and a quick wipe with 303 :

I still need to secure the pigtail, but I want to use rubber cable ties this time as the CTEK cable softens a lot with heat and the plastic cable ties were starting to dig in.

The unit reports voltage :

SOC :

And not like I can do a lot about it, temperature :

At least the temp should be reasonably representative of the battery as it’s sat in the same sealed (relatively speaking) compartment.

I also choose to connect directly to the battery as it’s the best place to charge (with an intelligent charger) and monitor what’s going on. I know about the ‘potential’ BMS issues, but those go away after eight hours and who’s connecting a maintenance charger for less than that time anyway … ?

I know both charger and monitor will have tolerances, but it reports 14.39v maximum :

Against a spec of 14.40v :

I think that’s close enough :like:

Well I better not be that guy, happy new year everyone.
On the matter of battery connection, I used to have my older Ctek Multi XS 7000 charger connected direct to the battery but with all the discussion on these forums re reasons for not doing so I contacted Ctek and they advised to connect the negative to a body earth. This is also what the manual for the charger says. However the battery sensors like the Ctek Sense or the the ones that I have (Antigravity Tracker and Century Batteries model) all say to connect direct to the battery. I have been running mine like this for the past year or so and all works fine. The previous couple of years I was running with the charger earth directly connected to the battery and there also were no problems.
So in my case study it does not matter.

100% once you've run out of tat to fit to this glorified ford sierra you'll sell it.
any family man that spends this much on a car for himself unless he's mega loaded is not a proper father or husband.
one of the most selfish things i have ever had the misfortune to read.
At least I got to see your reply this time, little do you know ... :giggle:

that guy definitely needs a hug. Do you recall who you've pissed off enough for them to chase you through the forum getting banned every single time they try it on? I mean, I know i can be petty sometimes and throw a hissy fit or go in a huff but come on man, he needs a lot of help lol.

Anyways, keep posting WD as it's always interesting - i never feel the need to buy 99percent of the stuff you've added so it costs me nothing to read your purchases haha

No idea ... lol

I keep this thread running as my hobby and car diary rolled into one, but it's obviously something that really antagonises this person as they feel the need to do what they do.

Sadly, there is another forum member that has also recently caught their attention :frown:

It's a shame this person resorts to personal attacks on topics that they know nothing about - in other posts (now removed) they try to provoke me by bringing family / parenting / financial / mental health issues etc into it.

None of this bothers me (anyone who knows my character would understand why) and where at first I thought it was amusing, I know wonder if they have got some bigger issues going on and I should actually be feeling a little concerned / sorry for them ... ?

Then I return to reality and think stuff them, what should I post about next ... :cwl:

Not posted on this thread before but well done WD Pro !!

All of us love our cars and love doing different things to everyone else and then picking up tips form other people to then make new purchases !

I love my car and my wife knows I love my car and so when I tell her I want to clean the family cars, she knows she has lost me for the day. I am a happily married family man with 3 children and 1 and a further incoming Grandchild.

We all have different opinions and lives and we should all enjoy what makes us happy.

With all the other cars I have owned in my life, there has never been a previous car that has brought me as much as my Mustang (I'm 49 and have had 20 cars before the Mustang was number 21 as well as 10 cars for my wife)

Enjoy what you love doing and F*** what everyone else thinks - We all have one go at this life, we may as well make the most of it and do what makes us happy !

**Now I need to look at battery chargers

My wife has known about my love of cars since the day I met her. Guess where I took her on our first date? To a motor show! :cwl:
There's an old joke that sums it up pretty well. There are two things in life that a man won't lend to anyone - his wife and his car. And I'm not so sure about the wife. :giggle:

how these chocolate cookies from USA transformed your whole outlook on baking. But in the proper thread of course. ;)
She still hasn’t done them for me !

But we have had brownies and gingerbreads in the meantime … :sunglasses:

She got a little skillet for Christmas for doing hot cookie dough, hopefully I will get one of those next :like: She also got a really (un)healthy cakes and desserts cook book, with some birthdays in the near future I am hopeful - and I will post up the results in the other thread :like:

For the people who don’t follow the baking thread ‘she’ is my oldest daughter :inlove:

And this is what she made for my birthday last year (Reece’s and Biscoff cheesecake) :

Guess where I’ve been this morning … lol

Right car, wrong model, best colour …

1641636664855.jpeg

Only one in stock and a damaged box though :frown:

But without me asking, they gave me discount and said so long as I don’t open it, they will exchange it if / when they get more stock.

The store manager said they hadn’t had many and that they had sold as soon as they got on the shelf.

He got a few digs in before he was deleted, the only evidence left is the post quoted above (mods doing a great job again :like:)

He now seems to have changed his angle and has started to have a pop at my financial situation

Perhaps there’s a connection with the so called most depressing month of the year and his persistent reemergence … ?

see years ago i learned to live with Sunday eve's and not be depressed about Monday, no point hating 1/7th of your life before it's even been. Likewise with January, sure it's not the brightest time of the year being dark and all and waiting on Christmas bills coming in but again why be upset and angry with it, thats 1/12th of your life written off already. I mean the last 2yrs have taken the piss for trying everyone's patience but stalking someone on a forum to make personal comments about their kitchen / car mods? Not like you've put a BGW on the car, at that point I might have to unfollow the thread haha.
