Well today was fun;)......cracked exactly 1500 miles today, so decided to give it its first oil change..:)

With the front up on axle stands I removed the sump plug and let it drain, then to the filter:frusty:.....not a lot of room in there, but luckily, a pair of marigolds gave enough grip for me to get it undone by hand:hail:...phew.

Fitted a brand new sump plug, (19 ft/lbs), got the new filter in and tightened down... 7 litres of Castrol magnatec 5w20, and job done:cheers:

Where did you source the sump plug?
...and why? Is this common practice? [apologies for the mech-deficient question...I've not changed oil in decades...]

If it has a copper crush washer or rubber 'o' ring that holds it from vibrating loose it's a good idea to change it when changing the oil. Less so with an 'o' ring unless it's getting on a bit. You used be able to just change the washer.

I got a couple of spare plugs chucked in with my order from Levittown.....

The sump plug uses an o ring, and it looks like it'll last for a fair few oil changes, but I usually let my old plug fall into the receptical, fit a new clean plug, then fish the old one out and clean it for next time....... It's not like I chuck em away:p

Just find it less messy this way, and keeps hot oil from getting on your hands:)

Also had a call from Robbie at Steeda to say that my diff bush support kit was on its way...
