I have heard this tune is good, especially for the shifting of the A10. Has anyone been able to compare the trans shifting characteristics of this tune to one of the canned AED or PBD tunes?
Not fair to compare power or driveability to AED or PBD especially when switching fuels or having the ability to add additional mods. But for being warranty friendly and an intro to modding it's definitely an option.

Not really trying to compare anything other than the transmission shifting characteristics. Everyone says that the Ford tune is awesome for the A10 trans - I just wasn't sure if the other tuners can replicate the transmission shifting from the FP tune or if the A10 remains a little harsh with the tunes outside of Ford...

If you don't have an A10 premium with drive modes than maybe the FP is a big shifting upgrade.

Yes you should have a look. This foam block is the cheapest most finicky thing. They could have made something much better. I wonder how they do this on the Mach1 as it appears to come with an identical air box/filter assembly from the factory.
Completely different airbox in the Mach 1. It is shaped differently and appears to have a much smaller opening to clear the lip of the flange of the inner fender.

Thanks. That's interesting. That airbox has a much better seal from what I can tell. It also looks like it will take water from the drivers side hood vent unless Ford changed the rain tray so it goes somewhere else. The box on the Performance Tune is contoured around the hood vent area and the vent drains in front of the airbox. Is the hood vent on the Mach1 closed off? If anyone has more detailed pics of this setup, I would to see them. The Mach1 airbox top section and seal looks like it would fit on the Performance Tune box. I really hate that foam piece they kludged in the tune kit.

I have a dumb question: Why not just close the air box? It's closed when the hood is shut any way. Why is the air box open? Looks?

The Mach 1 has the OEM GT350 intake, while the power packs have the FP version of that...which is pretty much the same except for the top piece of the airbox. The bottom half (tray) is the same, but the top trim is slightly different to have the Ford Performance logo. The rest of the tube and filter are the same.

All those come up and are interchangeable if you want to run the more open GT350 top trim.

The GT500 has an updated closed version, but it has been shown that at least at those power levels the lid is a little bit restrictive.

They never put the updated intake on the GT350 because it was discontinued, but it probably would have gotten it.

The 2015-2020 GT350 and 2015-2017 GT Power Pack 2/3 use the same airbox with the air inlet extension as part of the airbox and it didn't exactly fit the 2015-2017 GT properly because of the differences in fenders and bumpers. The 2018+ Power Pack uses a different airbox with a separate air inlet extension to mate up to the 2018+ air inlet, they just made the cutout for for the inner fender lip flange way bigger than it needed to be. The 2021 Mach 1 uses a different airbox all together.

The GT350/Bullitt/Mach1 use the same airbox.
The FRPP has a tweaked version of the airbox
(but I'd imagine you could easily swap between them if you wish)

The GT350 and FRPP elbow are the same(No airbox hanging off the bottom of it)
The Mach1/Bullitt elbow are the same (airbox hanging off the bottom of it)
(again I'd imagine you could easily swap between them if you wish)

The Mach1/Bullitt/FRPP have the same Throttle Body. Different than the GT350's, but the same size.

I am unsure if the Mach1/Bullitt/FRPP/GT350 all share the same MAF housing, but I assume so.

Re-installed my Ford Perf. oil separator. After installing the Ford Perf. tune it was clear that the separator and the new throttle body were not going to be good neighbors. So I pulled off the separator until I could figure a way to have them co-exist under the hood. After a long time playing with it, I was satisfied in my relocation plan. I swapped the hoses around, and used a heat gun to reshape them a little (taken off to heat them) so they wouldn't touch the throttle body connector or harness. Works great but the short hose blocks the oil re-fill cap and I was not able to use a mounting bracket so the separator just sits there resting on that bulky wire harness.

Relocation plan 2.0 is currently playing out in my head where I move the separator to the left side of the radiator. mount it with a bracket and use long extension hoses. Like some of the JLT designs. I just need to figure out where to get these PCV hose connectors. 🤔

Anyone know if you switch out a maf with this tune if you have to change anything or retune it? I think my maf might be bad and still have the original, but I'm guessing I can't just swap them out with the tune even though they are the same part.

If they are the exact same MAF/part number you should be able to. I doubt Ford is literally dialing in every tune/MAF combo they mail out.

I was just looking at the Ford Performance website and noticed this. I'm fairly certain it said 50 state legal when I bought it and in the overview it states as before: "Ford Performance calibration is 50 state emissions legal with CARB EO (D-752-9)"

Is this concerning to anyone else?

Website you bought it from probably just wasn’t updated for 2021. 2021 isn’t carb approved in CA yet, give it time.
