I could not tell you how Bama works, the that's what Lund would do. I asked all these questions to them & the current tuner I have & that's what they told me. Also be ready to have shitty starts with ethanol if you are in a colder region. Usually takes 2 tries for my car to start.
Some tuners have worked around this quite well. Even after sitting for weeks and through zub zero temps, my car has always started on the first attempt. However, failure to start could also be fuel system related if there are no check valves in an aftermarket fuel system.

you can have your tuner give you an E75 tune instead of E85, since I think 50 and above is minimum gains. Juggernaut gave me an E75 tune which is fine down to E70 so I don't have to worry about testing all the time for the gas station I go to

I agree with you. I was tuned by Lund on my last 5.0 & I told them about my rough cold starts on E85. They sent me a tune with a few changes & it started up on 1st try since then. But with my current tuner I had no such luck. Got fed some BS saying something about it being normal. Just waiting for spring to change tuners. About to switch back to 91 for the rest of the winter.

okay i will test every time
At least test each /station/ you use and maybe update seasonally.

Ar least until you get bored of seeing the same results.

Usually stations are sourcing the same place and getting the same ethanol content. You’ll get better mileage on E70 (it has more gas, which is higher energy density) but the power is better on 85.

I’ve had a Flex tune for over a year now and all I’ve been able to get around here is e70 which is a huge bump in the butt dyno but it sure intrigues me what the difference would be with e85.
Side note, I switch to 93 in the cold.
Car starts like shit on E in the cold and I like to flush the system with 93 for 6mos.

No need to apologize,
No no, please apologize. You didn't freaking read the 50 odd pages already dissecting this topic to the last nut and bolt. Or do a search. This is not Facebook where if it's 2 hours old it's as if it had never existed.
/Old guy soapbox

And if you had, you'd not have bought a bama tune either. 😀

Also good-heartedP people don't let other people get Lund tunes. 😁

But by all means welcome aboard.

I can't say nothing bad on Lund, they might not be the greatest on social media, but they sure in hell did a better job than who I'm with now. Now I'm not saying that's who I will go with next, but the couple of hundred $'s I saved by who I ended up choosing sure were not worth it. But yes, I cannot save him from choosing a Bama tune. That's just bad all around & a simple Google search would of helped anyone come to that conclusion.

That's a shame. Who is this problem entity lest others succumb to the siren song of savings?

Ford makes the f-150 start perfectly fine in cold weather on e85. It can be done. Part of the problem is that hptuners doesn’t give you access to all the “lost fuel ffv” parameters, so they have to “rig” it using what they do have access to. Another part is that some tuners just haven’t figured out how to make it work.

They used to have a section about it in the owners manual

Most tuners will put you at 10.0 or 10.20 stoich. Your car will adjust up or down from there as needed via the fuel trims. Its nice to have factory widebands for sure. If this were a camaro that runs open loop at WOT, you'd really need to test and dial in the stoich vs the real E content. At least those cars have the ability to run an E sensor inline and feed that data into the factory PCM. 6 of one and half dozen of the other. But down to e70 should be more than safe, same up to about e90.
