Im looking to tune my 2021 mustang gt to e85 but im worried because is it okay if i dont run pure e85 and its like e70 or something? And how bad will it hurt my engine if i run e70 or something because i might not test the fuel everytime i fill up with gas

E70 is generally the low limit for a e85 tune. you'll be fine.

If you’re not willing to test the fuel each fill up I’d recommend finding a tuner that will do a flex tune for you. This will give you flexibility and essentially worry free fill ups. If you’re not sure what a flex tune is, search the forum for it, it’s been discussed a lot.

E70 is the lower limit for what’s considered safe on an E85 tune. But you really don’t have a way of knowing the E content without testing or an inline E sensor.

Thank you!
You're welcome. However if it's consistently e70, just tell the tuner that. you'll still be fine even if it tests e85

If you don’t want to test every fill up, then don’t run a specific e tune. Run a flex fuel tune. You can absolutely destroy your engine if you put a low e fuel in an e85 tune. Up to you what’s worth the risk.

I don't test each and everytime I fill up but I do use the same 2 gas stations everytime that I have tested. After every fill up I don't do any spirited driving and watch the afr's for the first 1/4 of the tank. If I don't see anything wonky it's game on. The ecu can adjust fuel trims up to 30% I believe on its own however if your e content drops too low on an e85 tune you could potentially have knock and I know some e85 tunes, maybe all of them not sure, disable the octane learn adjustment so the ecu won't exactly pull timing on a long term basis if it senses knock due to low e content.

E70 is what a lot of pump 85 stations test at during winter blend season. You'll be just fine. Now if you ask for an E85R tune, then yes, make sure it's always E85

well when I was loading my 91 tune the e85 tune in my bama rev x tuner said e85 race so does that mean it should always be pure e85. I did request a retune though for a e85 flex

I wonder how many people come on this forum and ask this same question as their very first post. LOL

I could not tell you how Bama works, the that's what Lund would do. I asked all these questions to them & the current tuner I have & that's what they told me. Also be ready to have shitty starts with ethanol if you are in a colder region. Usually takes 2 tries for my car to start.

sorry :( just trying to get information
No need to apologize, it's the internet. People come in here & ask repetitive stuff all the time. The way I see it, if no one did, most forums would be dead by now & we would have to put up with fagbook which some of us don't have.
