You mean the "delay pay for 800k employees to avoid building the wall" strategy?
The Democrats are deathly afraid of fixing this problem. Corrupt government officials love problems, but not solutions. If you have a problem you can take bribes to do something. But always make sure it's a temporary fix so that you can extract more money later on down the road.

The Dems don't want a wall for a couple of reasons. First, there is a perceived backlash from voters of Latin American decent, because they are becoming a larger voting percentage. Second, I think many of those who make it across the border are going to vote Dem as well. If you look at the last election in Texas, there is a map illustrating red vs blue leaning counties. Along the border is clearly more blue (as well as major metro areas).

Funding of the wall is a moot point. Our govt pisses away $5 billion at the drop of a hat. It's a matter of politics, not economics. Dems have entrenched themselves so hard against Trump, any dissent would be political suicide at this point. They are usually lockstep on issues anyway, but these days, even moreso

This always blows my mind, one of the dumbest argument I see out there. How do you think they're going to vote ? You do realize that you have to be US citizen to vote, right ? Anyone crossing the border illegally has a very very long way to go to that point and vast majority of them will never get there.

Definitely, usually, probably. Even you don't believe what you say. I can't blame you.

Trump is a midget, in every sense of the word. The only things important to Trump are Trump, money, and attention.

He has no plan, other than to listen to whatever the talking heads on Fox have to say. He opened the government because NY was about to close LaGuardia.

You were once a great superpower. You are now a pitiful laughing stock. You can turn it around at the next election. There is hope.
Why is a liberal cuck from a country that gave away its right to protest anything its government decides to do commenting on USA politics? LOL, what a snowflake! The only thing we have to gain by putting the D's back in charge is a Great Depression, and if the USA is in a Great Depression, Aussyland is doing Mad Maxx time.

I guess you kinda forgot about sanctuary states like California where illegals are handed drivers licenses and state ID cards like party favors.

Texas just found about 90,000 of them on their voter rolls. Don’t know how many in CA because why would the marxicrats ever look?

And ? Doesn't make them US citizens or eligible to vote.

They are voting, check your facts. Some towns allow them to vote in local elections, but they vote in the national elections too.

You guys beat me to a response, but illegal voting is to what I was alluding. Also, Latin community organizers are trying to motivate those who CAN vote illegally to vote Democrat, mainly for the party's lax stance on immigration. It can turn into a "fox guarding the hen house" type of situation when you have enough people voting NOT for the greater good, but for short term personal gain.

I guess you missed the part where they are illegal aliens to start with. They don't appear to have much regard for our immigration laws, why would election law faze them?

Evidence shows that tens of thousands of illegal aliens take advantage of ridiculous voting rules. They enter the country illegally, so many vote illegally. There is very little accountability in our voting system. Besides, the democrat party knows most people who cross the border illegally are future democrats, because they want free stuff from the government. Most Latin American countries have embraced socialist politics, which is why they are saturated with corruption and poverty.

The United States has the strongest economy in the world. We have the strongest military. The US still controls much of the global banking system. We have a Constitution with a Bill of Rights (which is why the federal government will never take away our free speech or steal our guns). We also now have a president who is addressing critical foreign policy issues that had spiraled out of control because of the previous administration. If that's not a superpower, tell me what is.

I know Australia is a great place to visit, but I would not want to live there. Besides, you do not have a border where millions of people have flooded across illegally.

You have a large economy, not a strong one.

Australia's economy is the best performing in the world. We avoided recession in the (USA initiated) GFC and haven't had a bad year since George Michael's Freedom '90 was big in the charts. https://www.worldfinance.com/special-reports/recession-proof-australia

If your president dodges congress to nab the lazy five bills he wants, he'll set a precedent that President O'Rourke will use to steal your guns. Beware of what you wish for.

I feel as though Trump has shown himself to not be a fiscal conservative, which is frustrating to me. You can say that he has to pick his battles, but there's a system of checks and balances built into the government for a reason.

This showdown over the border wall has gotten Trump to his highest approval rating ever, but I wish he had just gotten the money when the Republicans were in full control of both the house and senate. Then this showdown could be about shrinking other areas of the federal government budget.

Apparently the american people don't really care that government spending is still spiraling completely out of control. Yes I understand that the growth from tax cuts will help raise more money for the government, but continuing this high rate of government growth is unsustainable.

Is there any growth that actually resulted in increased tax revenue ? I believe we're dealing with fiscal imbecile who thinks national debt is something that can be increased indefinitely with no consequence because "it's the greatest country in the world or something something". Right now there is some growth but not nearly anywhere near where it matters for tax revenue, instead the tax cut (corporate one, my taxes hasn't gone down a single bit, effective tax rate is higher) has benefited corporations and that's about it.
I wish people would realize that this entire border wall meltdown is over 200 miles of a wall (which is supposed to be built for this $5.6B - no idea who thinks that actually is going to solve any problems (aside from the discussion whether wall is effective or not which is a separate issue). But you have to con your believers into thinking that actually something was accomplished.
With this fake national emergency, he is playing stupid games and he will win stupid prizes...

Growth is growth, if you can't make it in this economy you really need to do some self observation. Our economy went through 8-10 years of stagnation and decline under the previous administrations. Our economy thrives when people feel confidant about having a job and are spending money. When people spend money, someone else gets a paycheck and spends it, it revolves around and round. Unless you work for a government entity, your paycheck is directly related to consumer confidence and right now it is high. As a country, we can't grow and thrive with people on welfare and food stamps, people need jobs to feel confident and spend money. Unfortunately some people don't want to work or can't. In a developed country that is compassionate, we take care of those that can't, nobody ever argues about that, it's the people that won't that irritate the heck out of everyone.
As far as the immigration problem, nobody that has a working brain thinks that it is a good idea to have people streaming across the border, we don't know who they are, where they are going, what they are bringing, if they are healthy, or how they can support themselves when they get here. If it takes a fence to slow that down, even a little, freakin build it.
Another thing about the border issue, it is a humanitarian crisis, but it is not the fault of ICE or DHS or any of those hardworking people or the fault of the US. To suggest it is borders on criminal. Think about it, we have people, for whatever reason, uproot their family sometimes with children, walk or ride or hitchhike hundreds of miles across horrible terrain and want to reach the US. Although you have to respect their tenacity and strength, they are putting themselves and their children at risk. To have sitting congresspeople (I won't mention any names here to keep that discussion away) suggest that the people who work for ICE are inhumane and cruel is beyond disgusting. They should be ashamed of themselves. The parents of those children should be jailed for child abuse. If anyone in this country failed to protect, provide shelter and food and water for their child while they walked across the US they would immediately be arrested and the child placed in foster care. To politicize this is beyond disgusting.
As far as our errant Australian, you sir, are dumb. As an American (that constitutionally has a right to have an opinion through the voting process) I am very proud of President Trump.
