John: My hearing isn't what it once was but my garage is quiet and I'm pretty sure I would have heard the buzzing if it was occurring so I'll have to go with, my CTEK box is silent.

Quick question for anyone using the CTEK MXS 5.0. Does your charger have a slight buzz to it when connected?

Itā€™s not very noticeable but in total silence you can definitely hear it humming/buzzing. Just wondering if I should return & exchange before itā€™s too late.

My smart little ā€˜Battery Tender Juniorā€™ that Iā€™ve used for years is totally silent. I moved that to another vehicle and thought Iā€™d try out this new CTEK.

Thank you for any feedback.

Have one never noticed any hum/buzz, I 'd probably return it, solid state should not buzz

FYI, I permanently installed a tender lead many months ago and have used it every time the car is parked. I went the easy route and hooked it up directly to the battery. There have been zero issues... works great, lasts a long time. So what if it takes the computer time to see the new charge. The car is sitting/charging for awhile anyway.

I went with a 1.5 Amp tender to be safe, wonder if I should change it to this (4 amp).

Did you just cut off the alligator clips and then wire it directly to the terminals?

Most chargers include the tail/whip to connect directly like that. They were included with my CTEK MXS 5.0 and theyā€™re an optional accessory for Battery Tender. F those alligator clips unless the battery is out of the car.

Iā€˜ve watched many of your YT videos. You sir have an amazing collection and garage!
Thank you very kindly! I have tenders on the cars as well as the boat, PWC and lawnmower. After many failed batteries, I finally wised-up!

As mentioned above, the tenders that I bought have a connecting plug with two end leads for options. One has the spring clips and the other has posts holes for bolts. It allows me to leave the leads in place as well as the battery cover.

I never thought about the lawnmower until last spring. I went to mow the yard and the battery was dead. I ended up doing the same thing and purchased a tender for the mower.

No buzz here. Just just stare at the pretty lights on the CTEK...

True, maybe itā€™s okay. Being brand new Iā€™d rather play it safe and try a new one before it possibly gets worse. The replacement is already on its way. And yes, never had issues with Battery Tender. I just had to come across this damn thread and see these CTekā€˜s with all these lights and it even said ā€˜5.0ā€™. Iā€™m a sucker for marketing.

I have 11 of the ones I pictured above. They work great... no complaints.
Just bit the bullet and got it from Bestbuy for $39.00 Going to switch it out, Thanks for posting Tim, much appreciated.
