I am exploring weight saving options on the GT500 (including, but not limited to, my own diet lol). The forums seem to mention saving weight through lithium batteries. Antigravity comes up a lot as well as a few others sprinkled in. Does anyone have any specific comments or reviews that a new owner should be aware of before changing over? Thanks!

You need to wait until their new battery for the Mustangs come out; the ones they have now are too tall and won't let you install the cover correctly!!!

I use the antigravity atx-20. There is a big thread over in the GT350 section.

The atx-30 has more energy storage. For the lightest track battery, you want the atx-20

I read that thread and your comments there as well! Do you like the CTEK battery tender? Any updates on performance since your last comments over there?

I just looked the atx-20 up and the notes:
“
Note 1: This battery should NEVER be used in a total-loss electrical system. This battery will not deliver a sustained current.

Note 2: This battery will not work on a modern vehicle with a stop-start system or a "smart" charging system. These systems are specifically set up to drain the battery down below the 12.4V shut-off point, which will trigger the Re-Start system to turn the battery off.

Note 3: Never use a trickle charger or standard lead-acid battery charger on a LiFePO4 battery.”

What about the smart charging system on the mustang is that a problem?

Performance? Its a lightweight battery that sheds 20something pounds. I dont use it as a daily battery, but instead for track events.

No, none of that is a problem. I use the Ctek lithium charger/maintainer because you shouldn't interchange lead acid maintainers with lithium units.

Any bad press you may have read about had to do with the "restart technology". The atx 20/30 doesn't have that and there is no concern with its use.

I have used antigravity batteries for years in motorcycles with no issues I have called the before the engineer recommended the H5
Which you would not have to battery tender the more ampree hr is for your cold starts the battery also comes with a emergency restart if u ever needed a jump the weight savings is about 40 pounds. this savings is great considering your reducing the enter of gravity of the 500 which is better for handling

How much does the battery weigh? It doesn't say. I know how much the 500 battery weighs. I dont think you are saving 40#.

Also, the restart technology was a problem with the GT350 electrical system. I dont think the 500 system is different. Antigravity thinks they might have corrected the restart feature so it works with our cars. I felt so strongly that the ATX-20 did such a good job and that restart was not needed that I opted not test.

Anyway, get back to me on the weight of that battery when you can.

I just did a little more digging on the antigravity site. They say the H5 can weigh between 8.5 to 16.5 pounds.

The oem battery weighs 27 pounds. If you opted for the H5 40 amp hour battery, that would be a weight savings of about 10 pounds. If you went with the lightest 24 amp hour battery, that would be a savings of 18 pounds.

The ATX 20 HD weighs about 5 pounds. Weight savings is about 22 pounds.

I wanted to give a shoutout and thanks to @Antigravity Batteries. I received my second battery today and a nice bonus gift in the box. The battery will serve me well in the future and shave 20 pounds off my car weight.

Thank you guys. You are very much appreciated.

I weighed it. I think it was 27.

I stand corrected, 31.8. More of a weight savings I guess.
