True. But he just joined.
No worries. But he should try the Technical section, transmission for more info on his question.

I drive a manual because I want to, not have to
This ↑↑↑

The WSJ article is just another attempt to tell me that I'm supposed to want the same thing that the majority of car buyers want, rather than what I already know I want having driven the alternatives.

Good thing you can make multiple passes then I guess.
Must hurt the guys who spend a whole day/evening at the strip and only get a couple of passes and less than a minute of total seat time.

The mustang in the hands of a professional on a race course is a tool... the rest of us are posers and posting. lol
I'm not a pro driver by any stretch of the imagination. But I'll be out there on a real race course a couple of days from now and more than likely again around the middle of December. The tracks are too fast for 2nd gear to be useful enough to bother with at an HPDE and not quite fast enough to need 5th, so with no $ or contingencies at stake I'll be shuttling back and forth between 3rd and 4th at times/locations convenient to me and just enjoying the drive.

IOW, I won't be so busy with the leftmost pedal and the shift lever that I'll be in any danger of losing focus on the bigger picture.

I should have worded that differently... I'd consider anyone willing to head out on the track a pro (at least heck of a lot more pro than I am willing to be). Not a pro far as racing endorsements and so on.... lol

Shoot, some of the best videos on here are the vids guys make while going through turns on a track or that one guy with his autoban vids.

I love the vids of guys pushing the cars and reading about their mods.

I dont know if i will be able to enjoy the car if i have to nearly break my ankle before it decides to engage. Is there any way to lower the engagement point?
I don't think so. It hydraulic so you would have to change some pistons and stuff.
The engagement point is not too bad of a thing being high and its actually better higher because you don't need to push all the way to get there.
It's how numb it is I don't like.

Maybe the pushrod that connects to the clutch pedal could be shortened a little.

I don't think you'd have to touch the hydraulics, but you'd probably have to toss the assist spring into your retired auto parts museum.

The world over, my friend. Pay enough attention and you'll notice that everything new was once old.

You sound like that guy who killed himself back when I was in my 20s....

He said "life is the same shit over and over".

You better get some help.

I really want to get a manual in a 2016 Gt but i was wondering how the paddle shifters felt with the auto. Anyone have any like/dislikes to throw around?
I think you answered your own question with your opening line.

For me the MT is the only way to go in a fun car. I like the twisties so the paddles just don't work for me. I am sure there is a setting I missed to make it actually up shift and down shift when you tap the paddle but I drove one and did not like its reaction time or lack therof reaction time . To me it is like buying a Ecoboost or a V6 Mustang. Just one mans opinion But deep down we all know a mustang should be a V8. I ordered my PP so it came with a MT, then a fww days before mine came in another dealer had an AT 5.0. I can say I personally made the right choice with my MT. Then the Barton helped. Still need to swap fluid that will be soon...

Personally get what makes you happy and get it based on what you think when you drive both. BUT Do yourself a favor and go drive both don't base your decision off of us.

Ive driven both a good bit now and somehow i am still unsure which one i want. If i never had to deal with traffic manual would be my choice without question but i get stuck in traffic way to often. Im gonnna give the manual one more try this weekend to see if it can change my mind but the sad thing is that i cant take out the stupid clutch assist spring while its on the dealer lot so i wont know if i really like the clutch until i have already spent the money. lol
