My Mustang is currently out of powertrain warranty and i've been thinking about getting a tune done on it. It's an A10 PP1 with 36k miles, no mods other than resonator delete. I had a 6 speed 2011 GT in the past that was lund tuned and it made a nice difference, but im wondering what kind of difference im going to see on my 19 with the 10r80.

The biggest thing im wondering is will it firm up the shift points any? The stock tune only seems to shift quickly with the paddles as long as you are accelerating. It seems very lazy other than that, even in track mode. Also i noticed there is a significant delay in manual mode between the time you press the gas and it actually takes off, even at low amounts of throttle.

So my question is, what differences did you see when tuning your 18+ 10r80, and was it worth it? I know E85 is also an option, but as this is mostly my daily, im not super interested in it. I was just wondering what the major changes are im going to notice if it is tuned.

The trans tuning alone is worth it for a 10r car. Most tuners have this dialed in better than Ford did. You don't have to run e85 all the time, but if you tune for it, that is where you will see the best power gains from a tune. Lots of options/ways to run a flex tune that allows you to run gas or corn without switching the tune. I used a lot of tuners over the years and as of right now Wengerd is the goto for our platform.

Yes, it is very worth it. Especially adding the E85 tune. Just make sure you do your due diligence on what tuner you go with.

I’d hit up Wengerd Performance and get his tune, you won’t regret it.

What tuning device do you have to use with Wengerd? What do you use?

For the love of god do a before and after dyno on the same dyno machine with matching settings and close to the same temperature. The delta is the critical part.

I used the RTD. You’d have to ask him what all he uses now a days, I’m not sure.

Shoemaker Performance is my recommendation. Just got a revised tune for my 19 Mustang GT 10r80, and it's incredible...both e85 and 93. I had a previous tune he tuned way back Dec 2018...as he said, there has been a lot of tuning improvements since then...you will NOT be disappointed!

Hey there!
I would say that the shift points are most certainly addressed when doing the tune. I would even go on to say with just about all of the options, you should see a difference with the trans tuning.

Although not a Mustang 10R80, my personal 10R80 F-150; huge difference when I did an E85 tune with Shoemaker Performance. 3, 4 & 5 gears are super smooth and crispy.

All in all; throttle response, shift points and a bit more power is what you'll see out of a tune.

Feel free to reach out to me here at Lethal Performance! Be more than happy to get you set up or answer any other questions you have! Thanks! #teamlethal

I’ve been tuned by Lund for a few years now and I can’t speak to the 10R because I have an M6 but when it comes to responsiveness, power, and acceleration, an E85 tune is on a whole other level entirely compared to 93

Another vote for wengerd. He can tune with an SCT device or HP. If you want to utilize the software transbrake on the 10R80 then you need to go with HP devices. I have heard that SCT is working on a transbrake also, but AFAIK it's still in the development stage.
