Sold my 2017 GT350 in Oct 2024 with 9600 miles, bought it new. Can't say enough how fantastic this car was, best performing and sounding car I've ever owned.

But in the end it came down to two things. First...I'll be 70 in a couple months and really want to experience different cars. I only have space for two fun cars, and I'll never sell my 66 GT350 as long as I can physically drive it, nothing puts a smile on my face like driving that car. Second...I'll admit I was a little concerned about engine reliability. It consumed oil from the beginning, ~1qt/1200 miles, nothing needing an engine replacement but annoying none the less. Otherwise it was flawless. I did have a Flood Ford ESP which was close to expiring, tried to renew it but Flood was no longer offering them for any GT350's plus some of the other places were also not offering for 2017's. All those reasons factored in so decided to sell and started looking for a replacement.

In August I picked up a 2013 Boss 302 with 10K miles that already had some nice mods I would have likely done anyway, LS wheels, FRPP front and rear springs, FRPP shifter and bracket, BMR adjustable panhard bar, GT500 mufflers. I knew the Boss wouldn't have the same performance as the GT350 but the difference was less than I expected. I actually prefer the Boss for street driving due to the friendlier street torque curve, and despite the poor reputation of the MT-82, do like it's gear ratios over the Tremec. After an inspection I was able to get an ESP from Lombard Ford.

Do I miss the GT350? Absolutely, especially the sound and brakes! Do I regret selling and buying the Boss? Absolutely not, it's been equally as fun to drive! Bottom line is both are very special cars.

Re-upped my ESP with Granger on my 2017 with 28,000 miles earlier this year. My first ESP was with Flood Ford, but they would not offer it the second time around.
Knew I could renew with Granger and Lombard. The Flood ESP manager flat told me he was glad to have another GT350 off the books. Was pleasantly surprised Lombard would cover the Boss 302.

Did it cost more/less than your original? With the more miles and older car?

The first ESP was purchased in 2019 for $1800. That gave me 5 more years and 30k miles. The one I got this year was six years and 40,000 miles for $3800. Both were Extra Care, the second level coverage. I was only concerned about the engine and air conditioning.

I sold mine because all the chatter of blown engines finally got to me. Mine was a non R 2017, didn't use a drop of oil.

I really miss that car, in some ways more fun than my GT500 CFTP is. They are really both a lot of fun in completely different ways, really wish I had both. I may pick one up here eventaully and just resign myself to the fact it might blow up sometime.

I am in the market again for another 350 but not sure to look at 2017s. I went on the Granger site and it wont let you put in a Mustang model year pre 2020. How did you warranty yours?

yea, if you can handle whatever is being done to that 65 body-in-white of your avatar…then you can handle an engine swap, if it ever came to that 😎👍🏼

Golly gee, you'd think this platform is cursed or something.

Still lurking haha.

Sold mine because I was after an R with a backset (hard to find to say the least) vs a ZL1 1LE. I knew I was going to start doing occasional track days but wanted to still be able to take my two young sons in the car so the backseat was necessary.

I loved my '16 and enjoyed the ownership experience, but with it being a tech pack from that '16 I knew I was going to have to move on if I wanted to start doing a few track days each year vs get a dedicated track car. For my use case I really liked the idea of being able to take the car to the track and drive it home and still enjoy it on the road.

Cannot speak enough to the drivetrain on these cars, it's simply an experience you will not find elsewhere.

Didn't mind having to monitor the oil levels and upkeep, the AC issues bit me and were certainly annoying but addressable - at the end of the day it was a great car with an immense amount of character, a wonderful community, and just a great car in all settings. Will definitely own another some day when garage space allows.

They didn't from the factory, but Ford made a rear seat kit to essentially re-install them, there are a few out there that have this in place, but it's very hard to find.

I've got an R with the back seats and they're really not fit for humans. You'd slip a disc trying to fit a car seat back there, my 9yo fits with the passenger seat nearly all the way forward and vertical, and I once sat a full grown but smaller man back there for 20 minutes and he and my front passenger were both MISERABLE.

The Diono 3Rs fit great, the Camaro has an even smaller back seat and they still work nicely, you're right though actually installing them is a contortion exercise
