I've never been a big mustang guy, although I have started to like them more and more in recent updates. However, I've always had a soft spot for the SVT/Shelby editions. Never have really been able to afford them since I was younger, but it just worked out that my finances put me in a good spot at the same time first rumors of the GT350 were heard. I decided I was going to buy it and never looked back.

FPC, 8200rpm redline, Magneride, Recaros, coolers, carbon fiber wheels, etc.

Ever since I was 17 and bought my 2001 cobra I always wanted a mustang with IRS that had a high revving NA V8 with big power. The 01 would of taken too much money and I got away from that for a while (and those IRS suspensions really did suck for what it was), then as soon as the GT350 picture became clearer into 2014-15 I was sold

The Shelby was the first car to really catch my eye in a long time. I came from a built EVO X and was looking to get out of the tuner car scene. 600whp in a turbo 4 gets boring, and can be a pain to maintain/deal with emissions compliance. I really just wanted a unique car that's fast out of the box, with stock reliability, and a well sorted out suspension. The GT350 checks off all the boxes and then some. It's less powerful than my EVO, but still powerful enough that I have zero desire to head to the aftermarket. It's a really special machine.

Its funny I feel like the emissions are killing the tuner scene. I have no desire to get my other car running because it will never pass emissions. Has me looking for a obd 1 car:ninja:

With the EVO it's a crapshoot, and just got tired of messing with it. 526 hp is fast enough!

Magneride suspension and engine is what mainly attracted me to the Shelby.

Why I bought:
8250 V8 NA
Space for the family
Drive to the track and back home with no drama
Mag ride
Looks great

I think it is just as important to state what would have kept us from buying it:
If it had a solid rear axle
If it was really heavy 3900lb or more
If MSRP was above 70
If it looked like a Mustang II or a Mustang Grande :)

This is an excellent summary on both sides of it. I also believe this is why a lot of people that normally never looked at purchasing a Mustang before (like me) now do and have.

FWIW, the room for family (4 seats) is a requirement for me and a lot of others. If I didn't need four seats, I probably would have got something else like a GS Vette, F-Type R or a Cayman.

I was a BMW guy. I had built a great autocross prepped E36 M3 and a Z4 M Coupe I drove on the track often but having a friend who worked for Porsche I swallowed the Porsche Koolaid and went through a Boxster, a '87 911 I turned into a hardcore track/street car and a 996 C4s before I figured out I had yet to drive a Porsche I could afford that I did get bored with really fast. I had a bad experience with a local Porsche tuner who took some liberties with a suspension build on one of my cars that ended up making me get pissed off ever time I drove my car or even thought about Porsches. So, I sold my 911 and told myself I would buy the car that made me smile the most. I have a '12 Raptor and I love it. It is more fun to drive off road fast than my track cars were on the road. I kept telling myself I just want the car version of my Raptor. I drive every car I can get my hands on and I ended up discovering that a '12 GT500 SVT was just what I needed. I couldn't start, look at or drive that car without smiling or scarring the hell out of myself when I drove it at the limit. The only thing I missed was the refined handling that came with European engineering and knowing that the back of my car was in agreement with the front. As soon as I caught wind Ford was developing the GT350 I knew my prayers had been answered and put in my order. Mine is supposed to arrive on the 6th of Dec which, won't be soon enough because I really miss my GT500.

There are lots of reasons I love the car now that I have it, but to be honest I had to have the flat plane crank engine. When I first heard Ford was building the Voodoo, I could barely even believe it. I will mostly likely never own a Ferrari, but now I completely understand why people love FPC V8 engines.

It's almost as if Ford got a bunch of car enthusiasts in a room together when designing the car and asked "what do you want?"

This is exactly what I want.

I lusted after the GT350 from the first time I heard the FPC exhaust note on this video:
