I wonder whats gonna happen when these 5.0 motors get very high mileage on them and carbon deposits begin to affect the compression of it such that it will require higher octane fuel. Anyone thought of that?

I use Cheveron 87 octane. GT runs fine, no pings or misses.
That you can detect. Computer knows if you have knock. If you aren't hard on the throttle then you will be fine. You may be fine year round as well as I see you are in nor-cal. If it does get 90 plus degrees there this Summer with 70 degree dew points, get yourself some 93 and report back. :)

UUhhhhhhhh........no. For real? Is this a rural joke? lol

This thread reminds me of the GNX/Type guys adding Xylene to try and help with detonation.
My guess is Jimmy hasn't set foot in a Rural King as there probably isn't one of those in NYC. ;)

Don't forget about Toluene as well. ;)

I've never heard of "Rural King." I just googled "lead gasoline additive" and that was one of the first Google Shopping results to pop up. I used to use a lead additive in my old '69 Dodge Charger.

City mouse, country mouse. ;)

And they say they have everything in NYC. :D

Leaded gas, those were the days. Whatever the case don't use it in your engine.

As stated by others in this post, there is octane rating that should not be confused with gas quality. While Ford is not a member of Top Tier Gasoline the following link should help clarify the term quality.

That's it. This thread is stupid. If you think the gt loses 1% of power on 87 your just dumb. Where has ford come out and said it. Show me a link from ford. There is not one. Only people on forums talking out they a$$. Close this thread and move on dam it.
