Before I went to RaceCapture, I used SkyPro XGPS160. Worked flawlessly with GoPro, iPhone, OBD BT and Trackaddict

I actually have this GPS in a cart waiting to be bought lol. I had the thought of getting this and an OBD2 to capture engine data better but was wondering if there was a 2 in 1 option available.

Ooohhh, that view looks scary, I am expecting my nose to get rubbed on the asphalt any moment! That's pretty bold view angle.
The OBD, I am using one of the cheapest I found on Amazon - Veepeak brand. It works well so far. I thought of purchasing external Bluetooth GPS, but honestly, I'd prefer buying a dedicated logger like Racebox or Draggy or similar for the price. The OBD gives better detail on current gear and rpm, throttle and break values, speed and g-forces come from the phone.
I would test a GoPro, but they seem to get worse since Hero 8 onwards, a lot of people complain about overheating and stuff, but the Garmin dash cam has no such issues. Problem with Garmin is they have different purpose - more storage and incident detection than quality.
Thank you, I like the lower point of view for creating an action shot. The helmet view is cool but there's so much crap in the way of a clean road shot. Sometimes the fender view is kinda nice but again, it blocks a lot of visible area.

Regarding the OBD2 scanner, was it this one?

How was the integration to TrackAddict? Pretty seamless or PITA?

Lastly, @Biggsy GT-500 friend and another media guy I know has suggested an insta 360 but I'm not clear at this moment if its compatible with RaceRender. One would think so.

I use a Hero 11 mounted on the dash, I have a puck stuck to the center dash in front of the speaker. In these hot months mine does shut off after a few minutes. I run external power 4K 30FPS, media mod with an external mic plugged into the input jack, no stabilization, battery in. I need to try running with no battery.

That’s what I have and used. Perfect if you have iPhone. Integrates with track addict instantly

Yea I have never used it but was just providing alternatives should the OP want something other than GoPro.

Yea you won’t regret it. But you may be better having two different devices in the long term. There may come a time you are ready to upgrade to an all in one datalogger. You can then use the OBD device in another vehicle. That’s what I did. It stays in my tundra(daily) now and whenever the check engine light comes on I can quickly read it using the app.

Yes, this is the one.
I have an Android phone and the first time connecting it took me like 10-15 minutes to get it going with the track addict app and figure out what data I want on screen etc. From that point onwards, its a breeze - plug it in, start the car, connect bluetooth, run track addict, give it hell :D

P.S. Any video can be hooked up with track addict data, as long as it is synced, so you can combine different views if you have multiple sources and then get the track addict gauges and data overlayed... I have not tried it yet, but the race render app gives a lot of fine-tune and sync options between the video and the log file, basically allowing to run logging without video on the phone and pair it with any video from any source.
