When my Pirelli's bite the dust, I think I'll replace them with POS garbage Coopers too! (I don't understand the mentality of spending tens of thousands of dollars on an automobile, and then going "on the cheap" with it.)
Lower octane doesn't mean "cheap" that's brainwashing from society when back in the day they called premium the "good stuff." Read back about the octane science I believe on page 2 of this thread. Lower or higher octane doesn't mean "worse" or "better," respectively.

That's like saying 2% milk is "cheap" milk. It's just a preposterous statement with zero fact.

I run 87 In my car because I'm too cheap to add 7 bucks a tank for the peace of mind that higher octane fuel brings. It also let's me afford an extra pack of cigarettes, condomns, or 2 red bulls.

I don't have a 2015, but I have a 5.0. And when I use regular 87, I noticed that the car idles roughly when at a stoplight or in stop and go traffic. I've noticed that the engine runs much smoother while using 93 so I only stick to 93 premium now.

Given the right conditions and circumstances...your Coyote will care...and will let you know...or you can drive it like granny...and be just fine...all the time...!
When certain conditions change...and they may not for you...the engine will let you know. Now...in this more modern age of engine technology...with knock sensors...computer controlled timing...etc, etc....they "get by" a little better than a V-8 of a few yrs back....but, make no mistake...again..IF the conditions are right...and let's throw in...bad 87 fuel....this engine with it's very high compression, can and will let you know it's not happy with the cheap ass gas you put in....no offense....just messing with you...but...it's true.

Why do you think Ford tested this engine so much that they know the hp rating will be sig. higher with 93 fuel? This engine responds to fuel....right?...right!....and will respond likewise IF..again...IF the conditions are not right....with cheap fuel...it will have pre-detonation....or ping..or knock...however we want to label it.

The purpose of a higher octane fuel is to "delay" pre-detonation depending on the "conditions" the engine is put under. When ignition happens at the engines "optimum" settings....the engine is most efficient...most hp and less unburned..wasted fuel.

And also know...this is NOT just for the Ford Coyote engine. Same issue going on with other manufacturers....an engine is an engine is an engine....with some varying twists in design thrown it here and there. My Acuras...same s_ _t comes up all the time. Acura says 87 OK...but, recommends premium.....and so the story goes...on and on.
I know the bicycle-spoke sound, but I don't know that I've ever heard a similar sound from a car... other than, perhaps, ticking when you start a carbureted car in sub-freezing temperatures.

I cant believe this thread.....wow. The Coyote is an 11:1 compression motor and from what a lot of the dyno guys are saying, it likes to have higher cylinder head temps. I will be using the best 93 I can find. Sure, it will run on 87...but mine wont see it.
What about adding in a lead additive?

Of course it is cheap gas, by virtue of the definition of cheap. It's most definitely cheaper than premium everywhere and therefore can reasonably referred to as cheap gas.

UUhhhhhhhh........no. For real? Is this a rural joke? lol

This thread reminds me of the GNX/Type guys adding Xylene to try and help with detonation.
Tetraethyl lead is actually a remarkably effective octane booster and knock preventer. Only problem is it poisons the broader population ;-) Leads to pretty massive societal changes, diseases, and higher crime rates.. So yeah... :p

I use Cheveron 87 octane. GT runs fine, no pings or misses.
