When I'm sucking in air that's reading 3° F above ambient, I have a lot of trouble agreeing with such a statement.
Me too my factory CAI has a straight shot to the grille. The very definition of CAI.

alright, someone tell me where this foam piece fits. The instructions show a completely different shapes foam piece. Not sure where to position it?

See the slot in the plastic?
It fits over that bump out with the hole in it just behind where you are holding it.

I'm thinking about installing this as well. Did you have any issues/problems? Does the hood stick up more?

Honestly, it was an enjoyable install, aside from a bloody knuckle. The “hardest part” is the removal of the sound tube and getting the foam installed correctly on the side of the air box. Just a trick about the sound tube…. As per many recommendations, just pull it off, rather than spend an hour backing off the nut.
The hood sits flush, and I didn’t encounter any issues at all. The kit provides you with everything you need.
I did end up driving the car around the block after install. First time out since November, so I just putt around but what I can tell you is that the shifting (MT82) is noticeably different. It engages much better now. If that were the only benefit I would have done it! Can’t wait until spring so I can really “get on it” :)

Airbox and hood shut lines.

Just a thought for you guys with poor hood shut lines / slightly raised hood after installing this kit, I might have something you could check ...

I don't have this kit, but on my 2020 I had a warranty claim for the elbow rubbing a hole in the hood blanket :frown:

Turns out it was a combination of two problems (both found by me ... lol) - the throttle body elbow not being clocked properly and more importantly for you guys, the air box bottom half not seating properly.

The bottom of the standard airbox has a recess in it for the wiring loom and the chassis leg (I am assuming your kit has a similar fitment in that area). It also has a rubber bumper on the air box base that should be sat flush on the chassis leg.

On my car the wiring loom was slightly out of place and trapped under the airbox, causing the airbox to sit slightly proud and cause the elbow to rub - as your airbox seals to the hood, the same fault would increase the upwards pressure on the hood possibly influencing the shut line.

The fix on my car was total airbox removal, then a little heat to soften the loom (and the spine that's in the loom) to allow it to sit back into it's correct position followed by re fitment of the air box base so the loom runs through the recess and lets it sit down properly on the rubber bumper.

If you have girly hands and once you know where the rubber bumper is under the airbox, it's possible to get your hand down and under the airbox to check its sat flush on the chassis leg without disassembling anything (based on standard GT kit).

It's just a theory for this kit at the moment, but it might be worth a check for those of you with hood alignment issues after fitment - hopefully it helps someone out :like:

Something I’ll pay attention to when I install this kit in the near future. Thanks!

Mine is at the shop. They cant finish install. Said the orientation is wrong on the airbox. Afraid to push the slotted part down so far. Anyone run into this?

I have no idea what your pictures are attempting to show and your shop sounds clueless.
